while driving my wheel bearing went bad on me and my wheel about fell off. well when it went sideways in the wheel well to get it off the road and out of traffic It messed up more then just the wheel bearing including the breaks. I was quoted 1600 dollars to fix the truck. for a new wheel bearing and break parts. so I started looking for used parts in a junk yard and Im thinking of buying a spindle off of another truck that will come with a wheel bearing break and rotar that I can just bolt on to my truck. I have a 2001 2wd ranger edge with the 4.0 v6 my question is what other spindle and break set ups are compatible with my truck. The truck at the junk yard im looking at is a 1999 ranger sport. they also have a 2002 b3000. or do I just have to look elsewhere

thank you

A reputable wrecking yard will have an interchange manual and can tell you what parts will fit on your truck.

That was a fun experience wasn't it. I haven't had wheel bearing on a 2wd, but I did have lug nuts back off a 4wd, so I feel your pain.

As Richard said, an interchange manual will tell you for sure. Your truck is a torsion bar 2wd truck. As long as the truck you get them from is a torsion bar 2wd with the same diameter brake rotors (IIRC they grew a few years later) then your plan should work fine.

thank you. ya so far I haven't found anybody with a cross reference I wouldn't think it would be that hard to find out if the parts from the junked vehicles are interchangeable with my truck I was thinking earlier today that maybe a spindle set up from a explorer might work also but Im not sure if any explorers came with torsion bar suspension

All non I-beam Explorers had torsion bar suspension. After they went to SLA in 1995, there were no more coil spring explorers, at least not until the major redesign in 2011. That said I'm not sure that the Explorer spindles will be compatible. Same suspension design, but there are definitely limitations on part compatibility between Ranger and Explorer suspensions. Unfortunately I'm uncertain as to exactly what those limitations are.

I don't have reason to believe '95-'01 2WD Explorer frontend parts would be different from '98+ Ranger Edge/Trailhead stuff. Unfortunately I too don't have any 1st-hand comparisons to give you, so I can't give you any guarantees.

Certainly worth checking into it anyway.
As said though, anything with coil springs up front will for sure be a no-go on yours.

Go to car-part.com and check for replacement parts in your area. Best source I use all the time!
