What did YOU do today?

Hell of a day. Woke up about 3:45 am, dog wanted out, usually its about 5am at the earliest but for whatever reason it was early today. I let her out, opened the chicken house door to the enclosed run, went back in the house. was kind of hungry so I grabbed a donut & was going to read news on my phone, saw I had a message from my daughter at around 2am. Opened it to news that she was in a car accident, in a hospital a good hour drive away & has a broken hip. Kids were with them but they are (physically) ok. her husband has a broken left wrist & a very sore right leg. Story is they were cut off on I-75 & he plowed into something, another car, guardrail, something. I saw pictures of the car, obviously toast (saturn). She might be home monday, I got to the hospital about 6am & was there until 730. Then went home & grabbed the mower & trailer, went to her house & mowed. Got things together for tomorrow. My electric weed eater wouldn’t touch the overgrowth at her house & since she will need a clear path to the back side door with no steps I am heading back tomorrow with a gas weed eater that has a brush head on it. Might drag the empty trailer to haul away the cut weeds & some downed branches. Their other vehicle is a 2000’s 1/2 ton dodge crew cab 4x with nearly bald 35”’s on it. might have to give up one of the escapes for awhile, mine is in better overall shape but needs the front control arms on , a alignment & the back seat put in. The V6 escape is newer but badly rusted in critical spots plus it leaks oil. One thing at a time, get that house accessible first.

Practiced the fine art of turd polishing and buffed the micro camper so it stops turning me green every time I touch it. Anyone know of something I can put on it that protects from uv, so maybe it'll still have some paint on it in a couple years?

Is it like showroom but just dirty, or is a decent looking working cap?

Get some water based clear coat in an in a quart can, and use a tight foam roller, and roll it on it on a warm day, but not in the sun. You want to put on just enough that it flows, but not enough that it runs. Get a second coat on it before the first cold is completely dry so the two stick together, and under ideal conditions put on a third coat. After a month, when it’s completely set, use some of the poly spray and shine.

Don’t use the Verathane or oil based stuff. It turns yellow in a year a year and a half.

For what it’s worth

It was a full aluminum bed/top, like a electrical or plumbing company would have, go check out his build thread.

Personally I’d either go your route or spray it on with my HF spray gun.

His other option would be to wax it twice a year…

Spent about 4 hours at my daughters cleaning up around the outside of the house, the brush cutting attachment for the gas weed eater is awesome! the weed eater is even running better after having a couple tanks of fresh fuel being ran through it. Brought home a trailer load of weeds, brush & some tree limbs. Not unloading today. Too beat. Its bad when you feel more wore out on the days off than at work! Got to see the boys, a little belt rash & bruising but ok.

racson, hopeing the best for your family !!! Gonna be a tough time ahead. Hopefully the idiot that cause this gets punished !!!!!

Dang man, glad everyone is somewhat okay. Looking at the car it could have been worse.

Watched the Belgian Grand Prix, tinkered with the Ranger a little bit, got the one hose clamp on the DPFE sensor situated a little better from yesterday, painted a spot on on the roof rail (common issue on 2019-2023), then I got about one-third of the roof on the yard barn shingled before it started raining. And it's freaking hot and humid outside. My shorts and t-shirt were soaked with sweat and I had to take a cold shower just to stop sweating.

Yard barn has had a leak on one side of the roof for 2 or 3 years now, not enough to drip inside but enough to rot the OSB under the shingles in two spots. We had the roof replaced on our house last fall and the roofers left some drip rail, 3 bundles of shingles, and 2 sections of ridge vent so I figure I might as well use it on the yard barn, plus now the yard barn roof will match the house. Will get one more bundle of shingles and two new sheets of OSB on payday Friday.

Playing catch-up working on the house since I couldn't do a lot with having both knees replaced in the last year and a half.

About to leave to go do a 20 mile bike ride. Tried to go 2 times during the week but i ended uo being busy, or rained out.

Both drawers are dry fitted together and grooved for dividers. I just have to sand and them and cut out a hole for the recessed rings I'm going to use for drawer pulls before they get glued together. It's a good thing I did a dry fit first. The one drawer is 3/8" too long and the other was 1" too long. Neither are good for different reasons. The clearance between the tailgate and the drawer box is so tight, that 1" long would never let the tailgate close. On the other, the locking latches on the slides won't engage.

Yesterday I did get the valve grinder up there and several other things that were easy. Also got two wheels from the "stack" and pulled the tires then put the 31" tires for the Explorer on, two of the 4 I got from marketplace had damaged beads but also had odd wear so I put the two even wear ones on that had good beads... Still holding air today so that's good...

Today I went to a farm event called the Steam Up, old tractors and a big swap meet in the back... gotta keep the old stuff going so gotta support it... Didn't even get anything big to be in my way! I got 3 wood handles to put on hammers and a hatchet and already got the heads on just gotta get wedges and stuff in there. Also got one of those retractable outboard brackets for my jet boat for $25, now I just need to get an outboard running to put on it... Other than that just cleaning the shop still. Supposedly I might have a line on a transmission for the F350 for $500 so that would be nice...

Church, new members lunch, rest and then dad blows a rear brake line on his Ranger and all my brake stuff is at Paul’s currently soo… yeah… I just had dinner finally…

I went to Target and waited in a long line because they had two self-checkouts open. Then I went to Home Depot and waited in a queue there as well. They had one self-checkout open. Then I went to Walmart where they had one register open and a crowd at the self-checkout area because people don't know how to use self-checkouts. Then I went to Winco and bought ice cream along with my groceries. The @)*&! line at Winco was backed up halfway across the store because they had two checkstands open on a Sunday. I was in line so long that the ice cream melted and leaked on the floor.

Do ya think this could be one of many reasons why retailers are having a difficult time?

wanted a cheap and quick Diet Coke, waited in line at a Circle K while 2 entitled idiots argued with store staff about holds on their credit card.
