what's a good brand of work boot

being in the NAVY, i have worn many types of boots, from wal mart to docs, the two brands i would definetely recommend are,

Bates with Goretex liner

Belleville with the Goretex liner.

More the Bellevilles due to them being the new militay flightdeck safetyboot.
WATERPROOF, super comfy, ceramic toe, and only bout 100 dollars. best boot ever.

Bates because they are comfy and only about 60 dollars.

all in all those two boots will give you there moneys worth.

i wear danner, i wore out a set of cat work boots in a week when i was out shed hunting this spring....my danners are really comfy, provide plenty of ankle support and i got them on sale for 115, a good work boot usually costs 130.

Chippewa loggers have been awesome to me. I work on a dairy farm..I get shit, piss, diesel, gas, oil, grease, mud, water, snow...just about everything on them..had em for a year and a half and still going strong

Wolverines. My friend Mike works for Wolverine so... They don't last any longer than Brahmas (Walmart) but, at least they are made here in the states (for now). The boots will be made in the Dominican Republic before long. At least it is not China.

I got a pair of Wolverines with steel toe when I worked in the tool room. I took them to a boot shop and had the insoles re worked to fit my feet better. I have a high arched and they felt great for about 3 years. Stil have them for back ups.

I like my New Balance 1024s but I hate dropping things on my toes. I have a pair of Carolina's and they are light, comfortable and steel toed. I don't know what they cost. My brother got them from the safety truck at Cummins and never wore them. I was over at his house and asked his wife whose they were as the last thread of stitching finally failed in my last pair of boots and my wife chunked them. I tried them on and said "Hey!" They're like sneakers with steel toes and lots of ankle support for carrying things on the hillsides, which I do a lot. I adopted them and 4 years later, they're uglier, but structurally like new.

sounds funny but I love my converse steel toed boot way comfie other than that I like my old docs the best thing I do to them all Is take down to the boot store and get zippers but in this is the best thing at 3am,

i can go outright and buy a good pair of redwings here for around 320. But irish setters are just as good, if not better, for a better price. I don't know why they do it because it's owned by redwings.

i just bought these irish setters today for 250. 1000 gram insulation with goretex. i just put mink oil on them so they're still drying

i used to be a big fan of danner fort lewis boots, until i met irish setters. i like a tall boot, because here in the great white north, getting wet feet in -40F is no fun.

For my money. I've been wearing Georgia boots. They seem like the last forever.Mike

just wanted to update what i got. I basically just hit ebay and put in my size. And apparently my size is rare because i had a very small list to choose from. I passed up two new pair of redwings for about $30 each. I had my list of all the suggestions and found some bates boots so i bid on them and they got here 2 days ago. With shipping they were $27 new in the box. My only complaint is that they are to tall. I asked the guy how tall they were before i bid and he said 6 inch. and it turns out they are 10 inch. other than that, O MY GOD they are soooooo comfortable. They kinda feel like my shoes are packed with feathers. (in a good way) I guess they'll just be my "winter" boot. and I'll look for some "summer" boots. thanks again for all the suggestions.

Georgia boots are for fashion down here. HAHAHAH.

I wear a real mans kind of kick ass shoes.
COMBAT BOOTS!
They can stomp a mudhole in someones ass anytime, any day.

pointless since you already bought them, but im bored so im going to insert my opinion.

i work as a forest technician and i put my miles in the woods, not on a concrete floor. (no disrespect). from freeclimbing rock faces, to wadeing through muddy skidder ruts carolinas get me where i need to go. i have two pair, both the same style, one uninsulated, and one with 600grams of thinsulate. they feel like slippers on my feet. i dont remember the model number but they are an 8" top with the logger heel.

my feet and legs are so used the the logger heel and the weight of a steeltoe that everything i own, even dress 'shoes', are steel toe and have heels. i dont suggest going back and forth. i had a hellacious week the week my feet adjusted to heels (shinsplints, blisters etc) so i dropped a couple hundred bucks on some footwear to keep my heel elevates. (i even got married in cowboy boots!)

+1 on Danners, or you can try whites. That is the work boot firefighters in Washington use, great for water, durable and all that.

danners all the way mine are steel toe and gore tex insulated they are also water proof as long as you dont sink em past the top of the boot, but i wear them all day in the shop and they realy are very comfy once you get them broke in plus they are rebuildable only downfall is that they are a little spendy but worth it!
