what's a good brand of work boot

i wear danner strikers with the 8" upper. i am running up and down concrete stairs everyday at work. and a plus note they are blood and body fluid resistant.

The boot will depend on your foot. I personally love Rocky boots. I do however have a 7 year old pair of Georgia boot Ice Trekkers that i adore.

I wear my boots a minimum of 9 hours per day, and a maximum of 15 hours per day. I used to buy whatever felt comfortable for a reasonable price. I've tried CAT, Timberland. Once I was able to afford Redwings, I've been stuck on them......probably the last 4 years. I have a pair for summer and an insulated/water proof pair for winter. The winter pair I get, I still like, but once the insulation starts wearing it's pointless to have the boots re-soled. I don't think I will be buying Redwings for the summer anymore. My first pair lasted three seasons, and I had them re-soled once, but they did a shitty job, so I bought a new pair last spring........the factory sole is already coming off.

I will be looking into Georgia, Carolina, maybe Wolverine. I'm not going to support Danner since the Redwing store sells them.

EDIT: I won't support Irish Setter since Redwing sells them. Maybe I'll give Danner a shot.

I like my Dewalt work boots, they come in extra wide sizes which was awesome for me and my rediculously wide feet. size 10.5 long size 12.5 wide, so the dewalts are really nice for me.
They are thinsulate too which makes them nice in the cold, and the toe is composite instead of steel, but it goes threw and passes all the same tests and meets all requirements. I trust them after being run over, stuff dropped on my toes and slipped with the grinder onto the front of my boot.

I had a pair of steel toe "Brahamas" from walmart for only $30, very comfortable and really good water proofing, I wore the sole out in a year but they were only $30... Every time I go to get a new pair they never have any big enough for me (12 1/2-13), it's getting annoying...

I started wearing size 12's at around age 14/15 and am now wearing 14s. I've even worn as large as 15s. Plus my feet are EE width. It kinda sucks, I see a lot of shoes that don't come in sizes larger than 11.

i cant stop wearing my Irish Setters, i got the wingshooters, and they are goretex, so it wont get wet. in regards to having bad luck with redwings, thats too bad, i've been buying red wings for nearly 4 years and havent had a problem. Irish setter is basically a company owned by redwing. just has a different name

most modern military boots last pretty long. ive had my safty boots/flight deck boots for 4 years+. i would recommend some Bates goretex boots because they are very comfortable and about the only boot i could run 9 miles in. im pretty sure they are waterproof and insulated. i sure you can find them on ebay.

hawthorne-white makes some of the best leather boots i've ever seen.if you hike, work in the woods or on your feet you'll love them.i had some 200$redwings and they blistered me to hell.bought some 300$ hawthorns and they felt great even on top of the redwing blisters!my brother is a federal wildland firefighter and puts some serious miles on his boots during the fire season.these are the brand they recommended to him and after using them i agree!another option is to get tailored boots to fit your feet.some people have odd shaped feet and this can save your life sometimes.of course boots like this are an investment and you need to grease them every night in the winter season.

How much do you guys spend on th Red Wings? I've bought two sets in the last 4 years. I wear them daily as they are more comfortable than any dress shoe or tennis shoe that I have ever had. I figure at around $200 if I can get a couple years of use out of them, it's money well spent, especially if I don't have to worry about getting my toes smashed....

probably the last 4-5 pair i got off of ebay. They said they were new factory seconds because they may have a scuff or some very small visual "problem" with them for about $45-$60. Even at that price i should have switched to a different brand long ago.

Same here, size 12 at age 12. The act your age not your shoe size lecture never really worked on me, lol... My problem is being able to find a consistent size between brands. My foot is a size 12-15 depending on what I'm buying, but my boots are a steady 14 atleast. Glad to see I'm not the only one around here with 'large' feet :D

Yeah I can fit into a few 13s, usually dress shoes or boots, but most sneakers have to be 14s. A lot of times It's worth actually finding the right size and buying though, like my snowboard boots. They're 14's and my right big toe, just barely rubs a little on the inside. I find actually a lot of people who wears 13s or 14s, enough so you'd think the shoes would be easier to find. Same thing with women's shoes, a lot of styles don't come in 10s or bigger but I know a few women with size 10/11 feet. Maybe there's something in the water over here....
