What price would it take for you to buy a new Ford Ranger?

Comparison to Explorer Sport Trac (just for wildbill23c).

RoW Ranger has 1,420kg payload (~3,100lbs!); although, I expect that to be reduced somewhat in USA. Will still need to be greater than the 1,575lbs of Canyon/Colorado as Ford's comparing whose is longer. Substantial increase from the 1,260lb payload of the previous generation Rangers.

If y'all want I could do the same comparison of SuperCab, last gen versus T6. Boxes are same 72" long, T6 is significantly deeper - 20" versus 16.5"; Sport Trac box was 19.75" so comparable. Between wheel wells is 45" versus 40.5"; Sport Trac was on 41.25". Cab is about 8" longer on T6.

Adms08:

Just about every F-150 on lot is SCrew, why would we expect Ranger to be different?

Aren't all the bed offerings right at 6 feet? I can't remember specifically, but they're close to it.
The 4 cylinder makes 50% more power than the SOHC 4.0. I wouldn't complain about an even bigger option, but it's certainly adequate.

5' Screw

6' Scab

If they made a 6' Screw I would go for it.

Previous generation Ranger payloads were as high as 1660lbs on 2WD models, 1540 on 4WD (this straight outta the brochures). Near the end though for reasons unknown it dropped to 1430lbs on 2WD and 1400 on 4WD.

The box is part of the mileage and is why they are all shaped the same. Ever wonder why water drops are all shaped the same? Air shapes them all the same.

there was sarcasm in my statement, I don't see the point in putting a truck into a wind tunnel. of ALL the technology we have we cant make a vehicle aerodynamic without a freakin wind tunnel. SMH

Is there any specific fact that makes you believe this is less capable, or did you just fantasize that out of thin air?

Cheap ass build quality and materials compounded with IFS, and a lawnmower engine with plastic transmission, yep they'll certainly be far less capable than the older stuff. But hey its your money go buy one and take it down some jeep trails and let us know what you don't break.

I like the look of the SC more than the T6. I may be biased though. I used to own a "08 Sport Trac and never saw a T6 until about the new ranger buzz started.
Also my Sport Trac XLT, wich was the base model, came with back up indicators, power windows, retractable rear window, Cruise Control, Radio access from the steering wheel, 60/40 split bench back seats, traction control, 17 inch wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, siruis/XM radio, 6 disc cd player,:icon_surprised: and much more, the only thing that did not come standard was leather seats, carpet and a sunroof, I believe.
I wonder how much of this will be standard on the "new" ranger.

Wind tunnels are a great way to simulate airflow after they've been designed with computer models. How would -you- make a vehicle aerodynamic without testing it using computer models and wind tunnels?

I would go off a design that has ALREADY been proven in a wind tunnel.
I figured out in the third grade a wedge in more aerodynamic than a block. I would start there and build off of that design.
Ferrari = wedge
Lambo =wedge
Saleen S7 = wedge
F-150 = block
GMC Seirra = block
1st gen Ranger = block
1st gen S-10 = block
Any NEW midsize or small truck - Car front fascia with a box behind it.
The new ranger look like it took it's nose from a Taurus. We may want our cars more truck like, but I do not want my truck looking like a car.

So you want your truck's cab shaped like a Ferrari or Lamborghini wedge, but not like a car. Got it. Makes perfect sense.

This is where it gets confusing.

You want to use an existing wedgelike design for aerodynamics but it has to be a block to look like a truck?

And they actually used an existing wedgelike design that originally came out in 2011 and was facelifted for 2015. Cosmetically they pulled off the fascia and stuck a steel bumper on it for the US.

I was thinking Ranger850 wanted his new truck to look something like this:

Nice aerodynamic wedge on the front; box in back.

But seriously, the average buyer wants truck to look well, like a truck. Otherwise Falcon utes would sell.
