What kind of lift should I get?

I have a 1998 4x4 Ranger and I want to lift it and put bigger tires on it. Should I get a suspension lift or body lift? I have heard the suspension lifts are better but body lifts are cheaper. Whats a good suspension lift less than $500?

Well, for 1998+ Rangers suspension lifts are a little more spendy due to the torsion bar suspension instead of TTB (coils up front). However, body lifts are a cheap budget lift if you just need a little bit more clearance for bigger tires.

Whats a good suspension lift less than $500?

There are none, good or otherwise. If your budget is $500 or less then your only choice is a body lift.
If you turn up the torsion bars in front 1.5" then you can fit 32x11.50-15's on a 15x8 wheel with 3.75" backspace. Costs less than a body lift.
