What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Rick W, I suppose I am more or less asking what is the likelyhood that I have a faulty bearing, axleshaft or brake shoes causing the noise?
Ill def check and see if those specific wheel wobbles has shifted tires since the tire rotations.
Also I buy my tires used from discount shops :|

Look at the cheapest/easiest things first then move to the more expensive/harder to do stuff if cheap/easy doesn't work. It is possible you have a slipped belt in a tire or some other defect.

It is possible one of the parts you installed are bad as well.

As an example, I had a bent rim that I wasn't aware was bent until I rotated my tires and it got installed on the front axle. It felt perfectly normal while it was on the back.

Not today but yesterday, I had to work on my parking brakes on the 2011. The right side was binding up enough to heat the rotor. Quite annoying when I just replaced the rear pads and rotors a day ot two before. It turned out that the cam that actuates the brake shoes was binding. I got everything loose and working again, but I'll have to look at replacing those when I go to replace the shoes and the rest of the hardware. Access to the components on those brakes is not great to begin with. Throw in an even more rusted cam buried under the brakes shoes and the axle hub does not make for a good time.

You could have a warped wheel. It's happened to me before on other vehicles. Even stamped steel wheels can do this.

The only way to know for sure is to get each corner off the ground and start checking. If you don't find anything obvious, can always hit up a tire shop to check the balance.

I almost lit my kids Ranger on fire this weekend. He has a squeaky fan belt that I seem to fix. Although it's squeaking at the water pump, I replaced every pulley as well as the belt. Here's a list of what I have done.

• Changed out all the pullies.
• Changed out the belt at least 3 times. I am only using Gates belts.
• Swapped out the AC compressor.
• Swapped out the water pump with a Gates water pump.
• Swapped out the belt tensioner for a Duralast unit.
• Sand blasted the water pump pully.
• Replaced the drive pulley.
• flushed the cooling system
• replaced the power steering pump and pully.

So, as you can see, replaced everything I can think of. Again, it is squeaking at the water pump. I found this out by using a mechanics stethoscope. Do you guys have any ideas? My next move would be to install a Gates DriveAlign belt tensioner.

25 years of potholes on steel rims, surely i have warped wheels!

I changed out my lumpiest of tires:
front pass had about 1/8in of up and down wobble
front driver had very little wobble
rear pass had bout 1/16 side to side wobble
rear driver had about 1/16 up and down wobble

well yeah, i swapped them out one by one and the 30mph 'wop wop wop' noise persisted, but i finally ended by swapping out that 1/8 wobble front pass tire and while the 30mph 'wop wop wop' was still noticeable, i took the truck to the highway and the pronounced 'wop wop wop' noise was no longer noticeable. i guess im good to drive this truck 1000 miles to idaho? could it have just been the new wheel drum shoes braking in? why is there still a 30mph 'wop wop wop'?
