What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Parking lot manners are WAY better but the fluid is still red and gross so I didn't get it all out... chances are the fluid was just gross but oh well, I'll try to find a good way to flush the fluid...

I took the 2011 for roughly a 45 minute drive. Shut it off and restarted it, no issues. Took the trash and recycling out to the curb and tried it again. Again, no issues. So, given the the current state of affairs with the Escape, I'm going to take the 2011 to work so Jessica has a vehicle to drive and hope it continues to not be a problem.

On the Escape, no codes, but the transmission is making some rather nasty noises just sitting there. I ran every test Forscan had to run on the vehicle. Everything passes. So, I'm going to say it's trashed. I'll check the fluid, just for the heck of it, but I think a transmission from a salvage yard is going to be happening.

Drove the 2011 to work, stopping for some lunch on the way. Then drove home after work, stopping for gas along the way. Never had an issue with getting it to start. Boy that was nice to have happen!

Congratulations.

Now, do you know for a fact, which projectile from the parts cannon fixed it?

Nope, only a suspicion that it was the crankshaft sensor. But I'm not about to start putting old parts back on to find out either. If I didn't have places to be at certain times, it might be a different story. Then, I could figure out which parts would become known good spares.

I'm unsure as to how I offended you, @Rick W. You have been such the promoter of the product that it only seemed fair to name it after you. I apologize if that in any way upset you.

@Rick W , it’s looking like you could use your own thread on this alternator stuff, I can make that happen if you’d like

Haha, no worries, you’re not the first one to call it that! I was raised in Jersey, I’ve got a pretty thick skin!

Amen, but let me see how the day goes. If I get it fixed, I would much rather have it behind me, if not, I need all the advice in the world. I’ll get back to you later today.

Edit/afterthought: maybe after I get figured out, I could write up a little tech session for you guys. There really isn’t anything clear enough available that I was able to find, and I looked everywhere, and apparently the original alternators are no longer available, so you have to upgrade whether you want to or not. I’ll let you know.

That’s why I was thinking of breaking it out of the discussion so others can find it when they are looking for solutions to a problem

Broke my original AVS hood deflector when closing hood when 0°F this past winter. Just got a new one installed. I ordered a 'AVS Bugflector II' but got a Husky. Dealer explained Husky had bought out AVS and rebranded products as Husky. Anyhow, it fits.
