What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Also made a deal, I’ll be ordering upper control arms later this month. This week is going to be dedicated to thrashing on my project.
Glad to hear it. PM me a price if you don't mind. I was asking for these from him for a long time. If I can afford to get in on it, I want to message him for a set and get in line ASAP not wait for it to go live on the site and miss them. Also don't want to bother him if I can't swing it right now.

i spoke to a tuner company that does the focus rs stuff since there is currently no tuner available for the 24 ranger 2.3 besides the ford procal. they said if i can get enough interest in them doing it, and they can get cobb or someone to set up their hardware to do it, they would do custom tuning on my that specific one year engine/truck combination.

in 25, for changed to the mpc 2.3 so the older 2.3 used in the gen5 rangers is the closest engine to mine but none of hte tuners support the 24 version.

i am hoping to get enough people to be interested that this happens because my buddies with full size raptors that get custom tuning are running jsut under 800hp and getting over 20mpg on the highway.

i just want to be able to beat those 2.0 turbo powered wranglers light to light. i don't need 800hp. with the procal i still cannot beat my wife's 2019 wrangler from a stop and she has aftermarket heavy bumpers and 10 ply tires.

2019 4 door wrangler:
The 2019 Jeep Wrangler 2.0L eTorque engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a mild-hybrid system, producing 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, which is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The eTorque system provides off-the-line torque assistance and smoother gear shifts by using a 48-volt belt-driven motor-generator unit. its got a 3.45 gear ratio at the axles.

2024 ranger:
The 2024 Ford Ranger's standard 2.3L EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2024 Ford Ranger with the Ford Performance ProCal calibration for the 2.3L EcoBoost engine produces 322 horsepower and 359 lb-ft of torque at 2,500 RPM. its got 3.73 gears.

if you google it, everything says the ranger should be faster but when i use the same drag app and run the same stretch of road one after another, and both directions, the dang wrangler wins every time.

The E torque will give it a bump over the 270 also especially on a hard takeoff.

Reaction time is huge.

I doubt it would be hard to find the average Wrangler driver "asleep at the light".

i think the e-torque is whats keeping it winning each time. and maybe its starting weight versus the rangers starting weight. the ranger is kind of heavy while the wrangler, even with those heavy aftermarket bumpers and skid plate, is lighter.

i did the test myself to try to keep everything as even as possible so the reaction times should be similar.

i am not worried about beating wranglers others are driving, i just want to beat our wrangler, ha ha ha. my wife always points out how her jeep is faster than my ranger. she used to also do that with her 95 cherokee with my buddy clint and his mustang. her cherokee killed his 99 mustang (but he didn't know the cherokee had the tow package which gave it better gears so it was crazy fast off the line)

and also i hope to have the tuner get rid of the factory skip shifting the 10 speed trans does. i hate it because it gives this odd dead feeling when it goes from 1st to 3rd and i always think something is wrong.

Might be time for a lift and 10 ply 35's for the Jeep. If that doesn't slow it down enough you can always throw a RTT and maybe some heavy skidplates at it. :secret:

I made the deal and haven’t bugged him since. I’m totally buried in stuff that needs done before the snow flies, as of this moment I have nothing capable of driving in the snow. And I have a ton of people hounding me to get stuff done that I don’t have time for. I told everyone I want to be left alone for two weeks to work on my Ranger. This week was supposed to be week 1, but guess what, other people have continued to hound me and when I’m watching dad struggle with a project that he could have done three months ago, I feel bad and go help him. So all that I’ve accomplished this week was to finish pulling the center console and put a couple holes in it.

I’m tempted to send everything to the crusher and tell everyone to get bent. I hate not having a solid vehicle and I haven’t had a solid vehicle for the past 5 years. I really hate people asking why nothing is done on my stuff and when I say it’s because I’m fixing all of their junk instead of mine, then they just tell me I need to work faster and do more… :pissedoff::flipoff::temper:

Which is why I don't want to bother you with the A/C thing on the 2011. So far, it's still working and winter is coming. I'll get to it when I get to it.
