what carb do i have on my 2.0?

Ah....so THAT's the problem child...lol

It's not the so-called Asian carb...it has a Motorcraft sticker...maybe someone can better identify it for you...or have you already determined that?

Did you get the work done or are you still waiting on parts???

still don't have identification...

Even though it has a Motorcraft sticker with a number on it (the carb may have been replaced at one time), it is still the infamous crappy Aisan 2 bbl Federal emissions carb.

if i end up keeping the 2.0, what carb would you suggest going to?
how would it affect power and gas mileage?

more power from a 1bbl? hard(but not impossible) to believe...

go to page one of this thread and read my post(#12) it is for that manifold that your aisin carb came off of.
the kit has the correct emulsion tubes in the carb for your setup. I have bought all of my parts from this place as it is only a few miles from me and they are on the up and up.
I showed him my setup and they didn't have a kit for this when I built mine and he asked me why I did it, and it is because the aisin carb sucks and is expensive to replace so he said he would look into doing a kit for it.
as far as the kit is it looks complete except for two things a fuel pressure reg and a fuel pressure gauge. use a good reg not a cheap one the volume isn't enough. as for the gauge I bought mine from summit with the inline adapter to hook the hose on to.
as for mileage nothin changed but my mid range power went up quite a bit.

i'll keep that in mind... with it costing that kind of money, the question looms: do i?
1. not spend much more on the 2.0 and swap to a 2.3 turbo as planned, OR
2. sell the turbo parts i've accumulated and build up a n/a 2.0

there are cheaper ways to do what you are trying to do.(used weber or motorcraft carb etc.)
but what to do as far as spending your money on performance parts or get your truck more reliable to drive back and forth to school is up to you but I would make mine more reliable.
Duane

the making it more reliable is a given... (i just ordered the manifold gasket) but i am having trouble deciding between a n/a 2.0 build (cam, p&p, exhaust, intake) or the 2.3T i planned from the start

I'd suggest fixing what you have and see if you're happy with it or if it improves things...but I'd consider just swapping out the carb and intake with something a bit better...

Going Turbo would be a nice upgrade but you have to ask yourself "can I be sensible with all that power at my toe tips"?

I'd have to answer that one "NO" for myself and that is probably why I shunned that route...it's not only more power...it's more stress on the other components...and unless you plan on rebuilding them from the start you are looking at potential costly repairs or replacements down the line...

good, sound advice... i would like to think i would be sensible with a 2.3T under the hood, after the "new mod" feeling wears off a little... i wasn't wanting the turbo just so that i could race people(but have a short list of people getting a beatdown if it gets done), but also so that i could climb hills without needing to downshift, tow more, better mileage, etc... plus the relative reliability and tunability of EFI compared to the carb... i figure 200 at the wheels would fix all those after going to a 3.55 rear gear...

Could run the 2.3T engine N/A for the time being, and turbo it when and if the time comes to do it. Then at least you'd have a 2.3L, and one that's boostable. I made a mistake of rebuilding a 2.9L, only to replace it with a 5.0L and lost a lot of money. My 2.0L just blew this past Saturday coming home from the scrap yard, I am going to tear it down to confirm what went wrong, but it's definitely not making it's way back into the truck. :D

I don't know why you are asking as you already know which way you want to go.
If you want someone to convince you to stay n/a good luck!
as most of us want more power as well, me included thats why I have a weber and bigger cam.
if you want the turbo setup do it, but if you need the reliablity and sensability of non turbo you need to show SELF restraint and make the decision that works for you.
and yes you can make a turbo setup reliable but you will have some teething issues to overcome as well as cost.
either way you have to make up your mind for yourself cause if you ask us to do it for you it will have a blown big block.lol
