what carb do i have on my 2.0?

urgent help needed!

after fighting with scheduling issues with the mechanic and reading ianthegreat's thread, i changed teh gasket myself. wasn't too hard, except getting to the middle underside intake bolts... now i am having a huge issue, as i am only getting 16-17 mpg, the truck still backfires(prob a timing belt stretched), but i now have NO VACUUM to the vac advance on the dizzy. i put all the lines back how i got them, but broke a clip on the plug that goes to one of the vacuum plugs on the bottom of the intake(the electrical plug) it still made a positive connection(i think)... only thing i changed(besides the plug and slipping a vac line out of the vacuum plug but i did put that back) was chiseling all the carbon deposits out of the EGR port(the valve is probably bad) what did i do wrong?!

it'd be faster for anyone to help me by texting me at 304-904-9507 than a PM or a reply, but please leave your username in the text. thanks in advance for all the 2.0 support

Can't text right now since my phone battery is charging...but what did you break on the intake? Did you completely remove the intake? I thought it was a carb to intake gasket you were replacing...anyway...if you just removed the carb and replaced the gasket under the carb and tightened it down (I used a silicone sealer on the base just for a better seal...very thin film of it) that should be fine...

The problem would be still there is the timing was off all along...but you may have a vac line off now so recheck those and inspect them closely for small cracks...that can happen especially on the hard plastic ones...that there seemed to be way too many on my truck...

The vac to the dizzy should connect to a T on the top side of the intake if possible...not the carb connectors...if you have it on the carb connector now plug that and look for an opening on the connector for the brake booster...or plug something else off and connect the dizzy into that opening temporarily till you get the advance working properly...then you may need to look for an alternative later...

nothing was broken on the intake except a plastic clip holding an electrical plug in the bottom of the intake, but it still locks in, so i'm not worried about that... come to think of it, there were two vac lines that were close that i forgot the placement of... they were two slightly different sizes, so i just matched size for size(line and plug) and assumed that was right i SHOULD HAVE taken pics before i tore it apart...(facepalm)

BUT the fuel mileage has returned to normal(19-21) and it has more power than ever despite the vac issues... up the same on ramp that my friend's 2005 F-150 (with 5.4) can hit its speed governer of 102 mph, i can hit a monumental speed of...85

Are you talking MPH or KPH? That seems pretty good for a 2.0 if you're hitting 85 MPH...I haven't even got mine over 70 MPH...not that it won't do it, but that is the max I go for a posted 60 MPH zone...or 100 KPH in Canada...

I've buried the needle on mine a few times years ago...but the speedo only goes to 95 MPH...or 140 KPH...

Forgot to ask...so the carb gasket improved things or did you do something else???

yeah, that was 85 mph... that was about a half mile or so run onto I-79 south at flatwoods(exit 67). that was him just flooring it with his auto and me starting the run in 2nd and shifting so that i land in the next gear at about 3000 RPM(shifting at 45-4800)

actually i never changed the carb gasket, just painted the surface with a gasket sealing black goo and bolted the carb back on... i changed the intake manifold gasket, which was a total PITA... had to remove the alternator, dizzy cap and rotor button, and then the 92,167 vac lines... the two middle underside intake bolts were the biggest PITA of the entire project... took about 2 hours to get them off and couldn't torque them to spec due to not being able to get a ratchet to them(or a torque wrench for that matter)... the new fel-pro gasket was about a third the thickness of the original Ford gasket, which in theory shortened the intake runners by like 0.3 mm but it seems to pull slightly harder in the upper RPM range
