500+ Metric Tons of Purified “Yellow Cake” Uranium Removed From Hussein’s Storehouses in Iraq

And why isn't this being reported by the media. I have seen one mention of it, that is why I tried looking for more information. Here is the link the above came from.

see people blame bush for everything
personally, i think hes doing a good job, and there are sevral people who do agree with him

and plus, how hard is that job
he just keeps getting new problems on his lap
idk, i think hes a good president, hell better than any of the other choices at that time
in my opinion of corse

He was correct.

Don't expect to see that on the news, though.

What you can expect is doom-and-gloom along with a daily casualty count.

He was not correct. He stated the uranium in Iraq could be used for weapons. Only highly enriched uranium can be used for weapons. "Yellow cake" is good for nothing unless you have the means to process it, which Iraq does not have. Iran does, but they also have their own uranium. This is not the first time either in Iraq. There was ~1.5 tons of low-enriched uranium taken from Iraq to the US in 2004.

I searched while typing this and actually got lucky and found an article from a more reputable source than the one above that states ALL of what I said. Good find!!

The yellowcake removed from Iraq - which was not the same yellowcake that President George W. Bush claimed, in a now discredited section of his 2003 State of the Union address, that Saddam was trying to purchase in Africa

So he had 600 tons of this stuff that was all but worthless just for the fun of it and had no intentions of expanding his collection?

Personally I find it very plausible from this that if he had 600 tons already, he would be on the market for more that he could actually use.

He may have intended to find a way to use it. He may have intended to find some that he could use. Much like I intend to own a Ford GT someday. It's not likely to happen though and it surely hasn't happened yet.

Yeah, but you don't actually have a GT engine per se.

He had something that was tangible.

IMO

Many countries have uranium. It is a relatively abundant element. It is useless if you cannot process it which Iraq could not do. Processing plants for uranium are large too so it isn't a hidden operation that we haven't found yet.

Terrorist networks are worldwide, how do we know he was not going to sell it to others that can make something of it? If the rest of the world would join in or at least help financially this war would not be so hard on us. The terrorists hate us and everyone else, but it is unfair for us to foot the bill, what happened to "if you are for the war, you are with us....if not, you are against us and will be treated as so" (or something like that). We still send supplies and money to other countries that do not support us :icon_confused:.

The troops need to come home, help in securing our borders, stop outsourcing our jobs, drill for oil here, build refineries for the time being. When all the troops come home, jobs are scarce, what will they do? What I stated is the best, I am sure there are better ways, but I am not a genius, just a normal average person that is mechanically inclined. I know more of repairing\figuring things out mechanically than economics\science\politics, but that is what I would do.

The terrorists hate the US and our Allies. No one is bombing Norway, Germany, or even Japan. Only the US and our allies. Can you blame the other countries for not wanting to get involved in a war against a bunch of people that are just normal citizens in appearance?

Right sort of. This yellowcake was from before the first gulf war. Not Nigeria. He had it 10 years and couldn't do anything with it. Doesn't seem likely he would be looking for more if he couldn't process it. It's still a long way from weapons grade. U.N. inspectors had it cataloged long before 9-11.

Last time I checked Germany and Japan were 2 of our biggest allies.
