Walmart Won't Sell Me Antifreeze

remember when walmart first came into existence? their slogan was “products proudly made in the U.S.A.”. Now try to find much there that aint from china. I call it “china mart”. pisses me off when I get flagged at the self check out for buying spray paint or fuel stabilizer. (im buying high-end spray paint, not the .99 cans of gloss black, let those dumb*** kids take themselves out, we need less stupid people in the world) I almost took a job a year ago in the tire & lube center, glad I didnt now.

True paint huffers use gold not black...

Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks!

Ace is the place that overcharges for damn near everything in the store.

At least there's usually people working in ACE. Everytime I go to Home Depot or Lowes finding a competent employee is like a game of hide and seek.

Me - "Where can I find spray insulation?"
Home depot employee - "Isle 37"
Me - "There is no isle 37"
Home depot employee - *runs off*

I like going to Ace but they NEVER have what I need unless it is drill bits, grinding wheels, or rubber faucet washers. Those seem to be the only useful things my Ac3 stocks.

The good majority of my trailer rebuild hardware if from my local hardware store. They are go to. Then elsewhere if for some reason they don’t have it. The automotive section is a bit pathetic but for stuff that a hardware store is supposed to have, they do pretty good.

My Ace has no lumber, no piping, except a few short lengths of PVC, their plumbing fitting selection is a joke, their hardware is sold by the piece, while a few other stores near me sell the same stuff by the pound. Tools and paint are all they are good for here.

Mine is the same. I have to go to Lowe’s or Home Depot for most lumber. Piping is hit or miss but they do have some black pipe and PVC. A lot of fixtures, fittings and joints.

Hardware, they have by the individual item or by the box. Some things are by the pound.

The days of a mom and pop place that would give Lowe’s or Home Depot a run for their money are long gone. We used to have a couple places like that while I was growing up. One was Carr Case. Not anymore...

The closest we have now is 84 Lumber. More of a small chain. Not real convenient to get to or to look up what they might have before you make the trip.

Johnny O goes to Lowe's:

Our Ace used to be one of those Mom and Pop places, until the owner wanted to retire and sold to Ace.

First thing Ace did with the place was take out the windows facing the street and board over them because the old owner's logo had been painted on the glass for so long you couldn't get the shadow of it off the glass.

I have to drive past 84 Lumber to get to Ace.
