Walker Flexas Ranger.......yes another one!

^ This plus you need to drill/cut some 2" holes in the steel and weld them up as well.

Yeah after I figure out where the loops will get welded to the plate I planned on drilling holes in it to make plug welds down the length of the plate.I have a couple more smaller odd shaped plates to add yet so its not finished yet. Still alot of tubing to be added to the front half of the truck so I have no worries about the frame strength.

The frame in my Bronco2 was cut the same way when this motor was in it and I never even plated it after I cut it. I beat the snot out of it for 2 years like that and never had a problem

I seen a truck at Evarts this weekend that I swore was your rig. Then i checked here, and see that it isn't quite done yet... Good thing I don't gamble

Dang I would like to see that one!

Looks good, but where you plated the frame instead of a straight vertical weld you should have fishplated it. Right now the straight weld from top to bottom is now your weak point in the frame...

SVT

I didnt think that mattered unless it was a frame that was cut in half. Never acured to me to do that for this application.

Anytime you do a vertical weld, especially on a frame, it weakens it. You want to offset the vertical weld (aka flexplate) so its not as weak in one spot. If it has to be a straight vertical piece, then don't make one continuous bead, put a small bead at the top and at the bottom with a small bead in the middle separated by at least an inch :icon_thumby:

Here is the rad mount without the fan on it.

And for fun here is how the sheet metal will look.

Got the chassis harness hooked up today and the lights all work.

Welded in a crossbar for the harness. Plated the floor then added the tubing, feels really solid and should work good with the stock bench.

And I got the cage all painted finally. Scotchbrited the whole thing then wiped it down with thinner.

And mounted up an overflow for the rad.

This is going to be really cool when it's done... A few questions though.. Do you guys who build the truggies take note on how heavy you want the bed to be? I know the Ranger bed is light as crap and some of the built beds look even lighter... How does traction workout on the truggies?

Looking good, but you might have to raise the bar slightly. The shoulder strap mounts need to be no more than 2-3 inches below the height of the shoulder :icon_thumby:

I have not weighed anything yet but Im sure the rear of mine gained weight over a stock bed.

The harnesses were my best compromise... Thats the highest I could mount the bar and still get the seat to slide all the way back. Im over 6ft tall and 270lbs so I need every click I can get out those seat tracks. For how I wheel I see no reason to worry about how they are mounted since the lap belts will be doin most of holding me in the seat. Major drawback of not having a ex-cab.

Anyway today I finished up the interior for now. Harnesses done, headliner out, auto pedal essembly in,booster in and stock seat belts reinstalled for street driving. Also got chassis wiring done so all lights work, wipers work,overflow/windshield washer bottle works.

And I got the fan mounted up so I can start wiring that.

it's not in a rollover that the mount points matter...it is in a front/rear collision where your torso moves front to rear....as you move forward the lower mounting point will compress your spine causing vertibral fractures....

Trucks looking good, didnt realize you had an HO 302 in there as well. Keep it up.

Yes I realize that...thats why the harnesses will never be used for street driving. For off roading the lap belts will be used only for 90% of what I do. Its only when I try an obsticle with roll over potental that I will use the shoulder harnesses.

Thanks, tryin to find a good deal on a used KenneBell blowzilla for the H.O. also.
