valve cover gaskets?

I guess I will be replacing the valve cover gaskets soon, probably this weekend.

with the blue Felpros? I'll probably be getting at mine sometime within the next two weeks. keep us updated as to how they work, as in dose the leaking stop right away.

Does anyone have a part number for the new blue Felpro gaskets?
Thanks
BRO1

I believe it's VS50312T.

Pete

Edit:
You might also consider putting the year / engine / etc in your profile or signature..

jordan have you looked very closely at the intake valley gasket back there with a small mirror? like pete suggested you might have a leak in that area.my 2.9 and my current 4.0 both had/have leaks there.on the 4.0 you want to get the ford lower intake gasket not the low quality felpro to avoid problems.maybe the same on the 2.9?

for the valve cover i would either get rubber or run nothing and a bead of ultra copper silicon.the no gasket worked great until i submarined the engine.

whatever you do make sure its clean enough that a paper towel wet with brake clean will come off white on the surfaces and joints.and use that dab of silicon on the corners.

anyway how'd the anodized intakes turn out? do you have any pics or links to pics? what kind of mileage do you get with the 4.10's?i bet its peppy:icon_thumby:

no no NO,WHAT ARE YOU DOING?you should be doing valve cover gaskets on your 4.0 and getting scrap money for your 2.9:thefinger:

get the EVTM's if you are worried about the wiring,or just swap in the explorer dash to make wiring simple and some gen2 door panels

If I can get the truck I am looking at, then a 4.0 will go in in the spring.

The wiring don't really worry me as much as finding good wiring diagrams.

I just installed some black felpro valve cover gaskets, passenger side gasket does not line up right. The side closest to the front of the engine is just flopping around, no gasket. I don't know what I am going to do! Can I just use some red RTV along with the gaskets, or just red RTV?

Something doesn't seem right, are you sure that it's on there correctly?

The only other thing that comes to mind, would it be possible to put bolts in the 4 outer surrounding holes in the valve cover and through gasket? The valve cover gasket just might pull just enough to keep the bolts in place and keep everything line up when you carefully reinstall the cover. The only thing that sucks is the amount of shit in the way.

I just swapped mine the other day, I did noticed that I used a small amount of RTV where the heads and the lower intake meet up. I imagine RTV could be used to fill in the gap, but it's possible you might still leak and it really sucks to clean up later. If anything drops behind the cover, it's going to eventally work it's way to the bottom of the pan and probably to the oil pick up tube screen (another reason why I wouldn't use a bunch of RTV).

Well the back lines up fine for some reason. As you start working your way to the front bolts though, the holes start going out of reach. I had to puncture the gasket, and I doubt Baxter Auto Parts is going to give me a new set.

Something isn't right. Perhaps the gasket is on backwards or upside down?

When I installed new Felpro rubberized cork (stock) valve cover gaskets it looked like it was going to be hard to see if there was perfect alignment, so I did the following.

Cleaned and straightened the covers, then applied Permatex Ulta Black rtv to the cover and placed the gasket against the cover. I then placed each cover on a flat table and put a bolt in each hole to align them and put weights on each cover overnight. You can then simply put rtv on the exposed face of each gasket and torque them down without worrying about any part of the gasket slipping out of place or being misaligned.
