V8 tachometer wiring

i have an 89 ranger it was originally a 2.3 4cyl till i swapped in a carbed 5.0 i was wondering how i could get the tachometer to read the rpms properly.

Best to find an 8 cylinder tach. It is probably possible to modify the tach you have, but that would require some pretty technical knowledge.

thanks i may just eliminate it and order an aftermarket one.
