My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
A colorado none the less.

I wanted a brand new, stripped down, basic, fleet type truck to drive around in. Ive been driving the F150 and putting in 50 bucks every 2 days in the fuel tank is getting old.

Went to the Ford dealers, they tried to sell me a brand new 08 F150 (which i didnt think was availble with rubber floors, crank windows, 6 cyl, and a stick shift no more). When i told them i wanted a Ranger......which is impossible to find.

But anyways, Found an 08 Colorado, 2.9L 4cyl, 5sp, a\c, rubber floors, pretty basic truck....hopefully i can get some decent mileage from it.

I havent bought it yet but come tuesday or so it'll pry be in my driveway.

Tradin the Vic for it.

Dustin

Wait, wait, they use a 2.9 too? No wonder you want it....

I was waitin for that remark....

I know you love the 2.9, I do too. But to turn to Chevy to get one, its just wrong.

Just keep your eyes peeled for a 4 banger fleet truck ranger. They exist.... my buddy told me he saw one in Narnia.

I would understand if you followed your your family (cousin I think it was) to the dark side, just make sure you come back to let everyone know where the 2.9 and 300 inline (4.9?) really stand..... and put a FORD sticker on the cheby

EDIT: damn that was my first thought but I delayed to long

You'll hate it. The built quality is shit and it has lower payload and tow ratings than a ranger...

You ever hear of ordering a truck? You can build a base model stripper standard cab 4.0 5 speed on the ford site now and order it.

Thats weird, at all the ford dealerships in my area the only Rangers they have are the base trucks with no options.

And good luck with a Colorado I guess.....

I have a buddy with a GMC Canyon (which is the same thing as a Colorado)

He has the 4cyl, 5spd, rubber floors, power nothing... You want me to ask him what all is good about it?

I know that i would not drive one. Just because they have some bad timing chain and head problems, mainly the valve seats. trust me i work at at chevy dealer. But do as you chose.

Got lots of nice Rangers in our BC car lots!

the colorado is just, well, butt ugly.i couldn't do it.

Rusty... As much as I know you love the 2.9.... I just don't think you're going to find happiness buying a chevy with their version of the 2.9. You're liable to be so mad at it in short order that you might do something crazy and denounce all 2.9s. I'd hate to see that.

Do yourself a favor and buy a Ford. :thumby:

If the new ones are impossible to find, why don't you just get a late model stripped down Ranger? I would buy a used Ranger before I bought a new Colorado. Just my 2 cents.

My father's 06' Colorado w/ circa 7,000 miles has been in the shop 3 times since he purchased it 2 years ago. He's big on chevy. Everytime I see him I give him hell because my 05' ranger hasn't been in the shop once. Although, I would buy a Colorado before I even dreamed of buying a rice burning Yota-toy.

I agree, except I wouldn't buy the Colorado either. If I were given one it would go directly to the crusher and i would buy an old beater Ranger with the money. FAR more dependable!!!
