Um....maybe buying a Chevrolet......

My dad has a Canyon 2.9 base model. He dosn't like it too much. There's little things he dosn't like about it, like the clutch feels like it came out of the Cavalier. The paint job on it was horrible. Had to be re-painted by the dealer when he bought it. The Tire Monitor is annoying to him. It comes on every morning, more than my moms 07 Mustang. The Doors don't feel like they close when you close them, the seats feel horrible and sit as low as the seat in a car.

my buddy has one with the 3.5l I5 and it sucks butt, my 3.0 liter has a hell of a lot more pep, and his has been in the shop 10 times since he bought it a year ago, and his dad's 2.9 has a been/is in the shop for the 13th time

You ever hear of ordering a truck? You can build a base model stripper standard cab 4.0 5 speed on the ford site now and order it.

+1 That's how I got mine (4.0L reg cab XLT with stick, manual T-case & hubs, cruise, but with hand-crank windows).

I'm not sure the 4.0L is currently available in a standard cab though, i'd have to check (it hasn't been in the past since '01).

Wait a minute, you forgot to click the $300 4.10 LS option...

If you do get the colorado you could just put on the front end clip of a ranger.:icon_welder:

and then put ranger stickers on the window. The dealership would be confused for hours when you take it in to get to get repairs. They'll just walk by it and be like oop thats a ford not a chevy. but it opens with the keys?

i was looking at all the small trucks at the philly auto show(ford brought 1!!!! ranger all base model i wanted to see a level 2 damn it!) and i was impressed with the dakota and the canyon but i liked the h3 the most, but if theres that many problems
i say go ranger or taco(they are ok)

Nope...just their older trucks are really good (I.E. 22re) and so their newer ones are probably too. Besides...have you heard anything bad about them?

Yeah, they're overpriced :D

Nah, but they're really not that bad. The big issue I have with them is if you go with the 4.0 V6 it recommends 93 Octance gas. WTH, the thing is naturally aspirated and you need to put 93 in it? At least this was the case at the NE Auto Show. Maybe they've changed it.

my brother has a 05 colorado with the 3.5L i5. thats got some snap to it. he has the 4.10 gears on it and it will smoke my 4.0. its never been to the shop since he bought it used in mid 2005. its has more room than the ranger and if it came with a manual tcase, id definitly buy it before a ford. im not a big ford fan, besides my ranger of course.

YES! they are made in Japan. Or at least by a Japanese company. They also have had more recalls in the past two years than any other truck. The 22r/e WAS a good motor though.

Not too much...they are the same as Ford Rangers (same style) but the older ones have a high resale value...no offense but Ford Rangers have horrible resale values.

I would actually disagree.

My shop owner frequents public/private auctions for his used cars/trucks, and Rangers are some of the more expensive trucks to acquire due to the high demand for them.

He sold it for a hefty profit 3 days later too.
