I farmed an OEM stereo that looked exactly like mine and realized after it used a different wiring harness. I do have the harness from the supply Ranger. I plan to get a Metra adapter but it has 13 wires to match my factory harness and the farmed factory harness has 15 wires.

When you compare the two:
  • 8 wires are speaker and all match
  • 5 wires I'm guessing are power, ground, illumination, etc and all match
  • But there's two extra: (1) red w black stripe and (2) black w green stripe
What are the two extra wires and what do I do with them?

Two different OEM radio types?

It might be useful to know the year of the sourced radio

I found this wiring diagram for 1999. There are two "fused ignition" and two "ground". Do I just wire them together?

Grounds need grounded, either together or separately, doesn’t matter. Ford grouped grounds so I see no reason why you can’t.

The switched power, that I don’t know if you can tie together or not because of the fuses, it may overload a fuse and going to a bigger fuse can overload the wire potentially. Looks like the one keyed power is to activate the illumination on the radio. Be nice to know what the draw actually is on those circuits.

You sure it came out of a ranger? Ford has a habit of using the "same" radio among many models with only slight, very annoying changes
