Twister 85 B2 Build

I am really leaning towards a body lift to help with clearances, but the price is holding me back. $110 for some poly blocks and cheap bolts is kind if steep.

$108 w/ free freight through Streetside. :icon_thumby:

Would a 2in or 3in be better, and what do i have to extend with either one?

I did the 3", I made an extension for the 4wd lever and it came with an extension for the steering. You may or may not need to extend the shifter, some people like it either way with the stock shifter but the '150 one might be longer to make it come out to a draw.

With the headers I used I am glad I had the 3" but your manifolds are a lot different that way.

The steering is kinda chunky until you get the 20+ year old rag joint broken into a new routine but at least mine came out of it.

I'm happy with my 2" lift, it gives me just enough clearance for everything and I didn't have to extend anything.

I have a 3" lift for a BII sitting here collecting dust. I was thinking of using it on my 88, but I really don't want to lift it a total of 5" (3" BL and 2" suspension), I want it as more of a stocker to just bum around in.

When I got my body lift, I got it through James Duff, they were running a deal on it and I needed new body bushings too, so I just ordered up both.

You wanna sell it?

Sure, let me see what's all there and I'll shoot you a pm.

Maybe i am searching the wrong terms, but is the bronco ii frame the the ranger frame the same width, and did they the ranger frame get wider in the later years?

Front end is the same width, but IIRC the rear is slightly wider on Rangers. Front bumpers are the same width for Ranger, BII and first gen Explorers, IIRC.

As far as body lifts and such go, you really kind of need to go with the BII ones for a BII and the Ranger ones for a Ranger. BII body bushing sets have, IIRC, 10 bushings. Ranger sets have something like 6 or 8 bushings. For body lifts, Rangers will have something like 12 pucks and the BII will have 10, although the Ranger set will have more bushings, the bolts will be the wrong length for the back 4 body mounts on a BII.

Yeah i figured with the body lifts, was looking for more info on transfer cases, there are several people say wont fit, but i have found a couple builds with people using the ones they say wont fit with no problems. Just didn't know if the later model rangers had a wider frame which would be able to accommodate a bit wider transfer case.

Not sure on that one... I'll have to break out the tape measure and find out in the daylight here one of these days. I don't think it changed width, but....

Of course, I also had people tell me that the 302 would not fit in a 2000 Ranger without a body lift.... but it fit just fine (just like the write-ups on here). So without checking, you never know.

A 4.6 will fit in a ranger, and they are huge.

I have seen a 4' long or so V12 engine (either Rolls-Royce or Allison I don't remember) out of a P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft fit in a 1960's Ford Mustang... fit is a very loose term.

Wow that would be somethin else to see! A V12 in a mustang! I bet that thing "Flew"!!! lmao man I crack my self up! Sleep deprivation can be a beautiful thing some times!
You're absolutely right "fit" is a loose term and it really depends on who the person is and the amount of dedication they have.

I guess if you use "fit" in those terms it would be very loose.

Anyway, picked up a fuel pump and motor mounts. Wont be able to really tear into this till school is over . Got a 30-75 page paper due on november 7th and i havent even started on it
