Twister 85 B2 Build

Personally I wouldn't start until it gets warm outside again. Winter time for new was the time to gather all the parts and get all the research done too.

Well that's why I put it in my garage, it won't get warm again for another 4 to 5 months. I am still learning a lot, I am not thinking this is gonna happen on a week or anything

Took me three weeks from the time I started my swap, till she was back on the road. I'm still nit I want to call done yet though.

Are they ever really done though? lol

There's done as in finish what the project was, then there's never done as in always adding something.

What are we looking at? You might have to remove it as an assembly, is there a way to take one end of it off?

That looks to be the linkage to the carb for the transmission to down shift.

Its the shifter linkage on the side of the transmission. The little connector is a pita, it doesn't look like it would come out as a whole easily, us one connects to the shifter that I need to remove.

You might remove the bellcrank assembly from the frame and see if it will slip out when you can move it around.

Well i got to work on it, none of those little connectors would just slip out, but i did make some good progress. I got the transmission pulled :yahoo:

Damn thing gave me nothing but problems.

Also found something a little worrying, right behind the control arm mount on the passenger side. Its the frame, it seems to be flared a little, it looks like it is almost factory. The other side doesn't have it. In the 2.5 years i drove the truck i never noticed it :icon_confused:

Well someone on another forum said that weird part of the frame is for the exhaust.

Take advantage of the extra space.

Get a bifurcated tool, place it between the two rods and twist. They will come apart with enough force, but you will probably tear the bushing from the looks of it.

The bushings are still available because they are still in use. 08 to 10 Super Duty uses them on the manual T-case shift linkage.

And yes, the flaring in the passenger side of the frame is factory design. The cat sits right there and would contact the frame if it didn't flare down like that. Both of mine have it. Very annoying when putting them on a lift because it puts the vehicle ever so slightly off kilter since it is in a lifting point.
