Hello all. I have been a member her for a little bit and have posted on a few threads but never started one.

So to get on too my question. I have a 91 Ranger with the 4.0 v6 ohv with the mod-r1 trans and the 8.8 rear end. I have just recently started thinking about throwing a turbo on it, probably doing a remote mount up under the bed. I am on a fairly low budget but I do have some room. I am wanting to learn how to weld and figure this would be a good place to start.

Any tips/things to watch out for? Things that are a must do?

I am in a fairly strict emissions area so I need to be able to still pass if at all possible

What kind of emissions test do you have to pass, is it visual, computer, sniffer, dyno? Turbo engines should actually have cleaner tail pipe emissions, when tuned properly.

Its a sniffer test. They might also do a visual but I'm not too sure about that.

With it being a '91 you shouldn't have to deal with egr either. :icon_thumby:

I read through it. Got some great info from it. I had thought about doing a fmu and just getting some 21lb injectors from an explorer.
