Truggy trail rig build thread

Whoa... I've been out of the loop!

My opinion on the cabless ranger? Ghey... I don't really see any benefit over running a doorless regular cab Ranger. Dove nosing the front, I can understand that, but not removing the cab. To each their own though. Your rig, your rules.

All the new mods are looking great! Can't wait to see the beast next weekend!
I kept the body and went doorless on my toyota. This is what it looked like before I got rid of it.

I always wanted to make it into a formula toy which kind of what the Ranger will be.Sheet metal just doesn't hold up to trees and rocks very well.
This is the damage to the Ranger last weekend when it bounced into a tree at the top of that hill climb in the video.

That is after I knocked it back out so the window would roll up.

Are you ditching the efi and using propane? I love the efi 5.0 in my Bronco2,was an easy swap also.

Not a fan, but again, to each their own brother. It will be awesome, there is no doubt about that, but styling tastes differ. As long as it works for ya, that's all that matters

I don't see anything wrong with this. I like it.
Thanks, I don't know why nobody else on here likes buggies:dunno:

Yeah efi is coming off. Just picked up a 4 barrel intake manifold for it tonight.

My 4runner had all the disadvantages of a buggy but none of the advantages. Here is a video of it when I broke the first hardtop. Opps no brakes

Fully tubed will be cool, but PLEASE don't make it an f-toy (f-ford?). I have faith that you can build something with more character.

Looks like I am keeping the rear drums. The axle tapers down too soon and the axle flanges would need to be turned down to fit the rotors. But at least with the drums I will be able to keep the parking brake, and that will be a big plus with the manual trans swap.

Also the shafts I have are wore down too much where the bearing rides. Pulled two sets at the JY this morning and they had the same problem. Looking at the 1541 shafts that broncograveyard sales, looks like a good deal.

I have used repair bearings in a few axle builds that move the bearing in a tad..

And on my B2 I went with this parking brake and have been very happy with it. Just mounted it where the stock hood release handle was.

Just ordered some Timken repair bearings from rockauto part # TRP1559TV

I was out bid on one of those barking brakes on ebay last night. Probably just rig up a hand parking brake out of a car that uses cables. And maybe run a hand throttle.

Gregg, look at Dustins thread. He ran into the same problem but found small flange fw 8.8 shafts...

I was talking about the shafts themselves, the flanges on the fw 8.8 was too big, as in your case, but he did some digging and found smaller flanges shafts for the fw 8.8, what disk brake setup are/were you going with?
