Truggy trail rig build thread


I say kept the cab.....or some sort of a cab.

Open air would be nice... But mud, snow, rain, direct sunlight are all going to suck big time.


I'm thinking find an old full size ford cab and take 12" out of the center :D

It will have sides and a roof just no glass
 
Not much work going on, it's too hot today for that. But did make a few additions to the garage.

When cools down tonight I'm going to start cutting the brackets off the fullwidth 8.8 so I can tryout the torch.

I already have the trans and tc Np435 and a 205. I'm hoping it will be a good combo for the wheelin I do. I will be pulling my intake and ignition for the 5.0 because I'm going propane. So if you need any of those parts let me know.

And the swap might happen earlier then I was thinking. Yesterday I started loosing reverse but I let it cool down and it worked fine after that. But I'm sure it is on it's way out. Won't have those problems with the np435. 4.0 is also loosing power on hill climbs at WOT half throttle it does fine. I don't know what is going on. I'll just keep wheelin it until it quits or the swap is ready.
 
going with 'pane eh? nice. I need an ECU/MAF/ignition stuff/passenger side valve cover/power steering/alternator brackets....if you have any spares lying around :) ....I have to convert my 88 speed density motor to MAF, and the motor didnt come with any of the ignition stuff....
 
The only thing I have that you need that I can part with is the distributor.

Got the axle stripped down but probably wont mess with it again until Thursday.

nah thats ok man dont worry about it. on another note, I have a set of 8.8 bearings I made into setup bearings, if you want to borrow them.

I think I have a set but thanks anyway.

Another thing I broke my harbor freight axle shaft bearing puller. I have the receipt but it is about a year old so I hope they will give me a new one. Don't want to rebuild the axle and not change the outer bearings and seals.

Yeah those are the same parts I would of ordered... I called Nash Propane and they are sending me a complete kit minus the parts I got from you. I know it is hard to believe they would do that but they are and he said they would throw in install and tuning instructions, can't beat that. Oh ha and free shipping.

Your truck is going to be the sheit at wishbone the 28th.
 
Whoa... I've been out of the loop!

My opinion on the cabless ranger? Ghey... I don't really see any benefit over running a doorless regular cab Ranger. Dove nosing the front, I can understand that, but not removing the cab. To each their own though. Your rig, your rules.

All the new mods are looking great! Can't wait to see the beast next weekend!
