Truck wont go

‘98 with the E4OD should be a F-250. The 7 lugged wheel thing with a F-150 body.

So both transmissions are the same, but different. I guess that means you get the same kit when you need to rebuild either?
So he gets his truck back tomorrow after almost $2,000. He has a 98 F150, 5.4L engine, E40D/4r100 tranny with 3.5:5 rear end. Is that enough truck for a 7,000 lbs. Camper w/5th wheel.

I know of these from working at a brake shop for a few years. we had a customer with one. My dads truck is all F150, 5 lugs and all. It was special ordered to work as a horse hauler for the beginning of its life. It's NOT a Lariat, but has been upgraded to Almost Lariat trim.

Better for it than a 4.6/4R70W.

If you have enough springs and brakes you shouldn't be too bad.

They must have been much more generous with the heavier trans earlier on. When I was shopping for a '99-'03 it was either a 7 lug truck or a heavily optioned Supercrew to get the 4R100. 7 lugs are uncommon not to be beat to crap and I didn't want a Supercrew.

he does have extra load springs in the rear and uses the trailer brakes to help slow the whole rig.

Like I said, all I know is that is was special ordered, this truck did not come off the lot, it was delivered for the original owner.
thanx for all your answers and info, we have learned a lot about this truck since it broke down.

Your dad has one, Rusty has had two and talking with my brother in law over the weekend he had a 98 with the heavier transmission too. All pre-99 too.

That part of it must not have been as special order as I thought.

My 4406 came out of a f150 with a 4r100 and a 5.4

They DO exist..

The E4OD isnt all its cracked up to be in my opinion. Ive had issues out of every single one ive had besides my current 97.

The C6? Well, never an issue one.

Guess Who's back. It's been almost 3 years, whoa. ell the truck has stopped going forward and Pops is looking for a replacement trans. After reading this thread again, I'm wondering will a C6 bolt up the 5.4? How hard/easy are the c6 to find?
