Truck is trying my patience, gas tank is bad!

Why not just get a used tank at the local junkyard. Most of them should be in good shape being plastic regardless of whether the rest of the truck is rusted out. A plastic tank would be a permanent solution regarding rusting.

a new gas tank will run you $140 and new straps will cost $30. i just looked them up at work. if its a filler neck i couldnt tell you how much becuase we dont sell any. oh yeah, those prices are form autovalue/ bumper to bumper.

I did a little checking, prices seem to range from $130-190.

Definitely an option!

The problem with living in Illinois, Chicago in particular, is that one inch of snow equals two inches of salt!

Dry Ice
Thats how they welded the hole in the fuel tank on our freightliner, they threw a bunch of dry ice in the tank which turns into C02 and then they welded it. When your done the dry ice evaporates and disappears. Worked like a charm.

I know I have said this a 100 times in the past few days but go to www.car-part.com. This links you to junkyards throughout the U.S. and Canada. I bought a brand new gas tank for my Ranger for 50.00 + sh. Not only are there used parts but you can get new parts at one heck of a savings.

I'm so cheap that when I puul a penny out of my pocket... Lincoln squints!

This thread was started back in Jan, I was surprised to see it resurfaced!

Right on, just givin' ya a hard time. At least we learned about the dry ice trick.

www.car-part.com will net you a new tank for cheap, cheap, cheap and more! I paid 70.00 for my new tank. 50.00 for the tank and 20.00 for shipping!
