Hey guys. my transmission is shifting rough. My speedometer and cruise control is not working either. everything else works on the cluster. I had the codes read and it was the speed sensor so I replaced the speed sensor on the rear end and the problem is still there. almost like its not sending power to the sensor. any advice?

learning that it could be the gem/ctm. my truck is an 03. is it possible to install a new ctm from an 04. both 2wd no power windows. same everything

I've heard a bad VSS can cause this. I would check all the fuses first.

i recently changed that sensor and all the fuses and relays are good. the truck still reads that the speed sensor is bad even with a brand new one. im leaning more toward that gem module. would the gem module being bad also be the cause of my cruise control not working?

It's somewhat possible that the new sensor is bad, or that you're having problems with the wiring to the sensor.

its weird though because my tach will say ive been 1/10 of a mile about every 50 rel miles. it turns very very slowly

just found out there is one fuse that is responsible for both the speedometer and the gem module. the fuse is not blown. so that proves at least my truck has the gem module responsible for the speedometer at some point. with the vss/abs sensor both sensing the speed of the truck and transmission speed im willing to bet that the gem module is bad and is not sending the speeds to all the proper locations including the speedometer. long story short.... bad gem module will make your transmission shift like doo doo on an 03 ranger
