I Have a 95 ranger 4.0 4x4 5 speed with an electronic transfer case. Im looking at a trans from an explorer that is a manual, from a 4.0 but has a manual transfer case. Can I use my electronic transfer case on the donor trans? Looks like it should work.

Yes, no problem at all there. FYI, if you can snag the manual t-case and shifter and shifter boot, it'd be real easy to swap that into your truck.

+1 ^^^

One caveat, if you get the manual transfer case make sure it has the speedometer hook up for use on 1997 and earlier Rangers, 1998 and up didn't have that, but the transmission themselves were the same thru 2011

And you should check the 3 rear plugs on the replacement trans, they tend to leak
Also an Explorer manual transmission "may have" a Neutral switch plug in, Rangers didn't use that so just leave it disconnected

I was assuming the Explorer was a '94 or older... I've never seen a manual transfer case in a second gen Explorer, was that even an option?

Forgot about the neutral switch too. The '97 Ranger I just tore down did not have one, that spot on the shifter housing was cast shut. I have a couple other M5ODs torn down - '88 2.3 trans has a neutral switch, '94 Explorer trans has one, 3.0 2wd trans from unknown Ranger does not (although it does have a speedo drive gear installed.) Really irrelevant unless your clutch switch stops working, then the truck won't start.
