Ok recently replaced my 4.0 transmission. I'm not sure of the kind that's in it now but it may have a leak... Or something... It's not tranny fluid it's like a dark gray/black liquid that appears to be coming from the pan bolts.... Tightened the bolts the first time i saw liquid but checked again and it was still there. Oh and the radiator is leaking... But i think that's just a bad hose or clamp or radiator.

details details details like what kind of trans....please

It's either the 4r55e or the 5r55e. It's in a 2000 ranger with 4.0l ohv. Changed trannies cause the stock one was shot. Not sure exactly which on we put in it except that it fit...

if your trans is leaking grey/black, its shot! that would be clutch material. did you replace the torque converter? if not, it was holding debris from the previous trans, and put it in your "new" trans, which will most likely cause it to fail

Did not replace torque converter. Replaced it all and the one i put in had been rebuilt.
