TPMS Sensors

I've read some threads about these but none answered my question. I need new ones and am thinking about getting the metal ones that will match my gunmetal rims instead of the rubber pull-through style. I've never used them before and wonder if there are any issues with them like corroding, leaking, etc. I'm looking at these: TPMS Sensors.

LOL! Those don't make the little light go out that prevents me from getting an inspection sticker.

So I got the sensors but they don't seem to work. I placed a sensor on each wheel, put the truck into relearn mode and started at the front left wheel with the TPMS19 tool but nothing happens. The sensors are 433/315 MHz so they should work. When I did it with my Explorer, the horn sounded at each wheel so I know the TPMS19 tool works. Hard to believe I got 4 bad sensors from a place that only sells the sensors. (TPMSDirect.com) The kid at the tire shop I went to said he could not get a reading off them and that some sensors need to be under pressure to "wake up". I just hate to have them installed only to find out they don't work.

I hate having TPMS, I own 3 air compressors, at least 6 tire gauges and know how to use them. My 2016 Escape has TPMS and the original sensors in the factory wheels are still working but the aftermarket sensors in my snow tire wheels have been dead for 3 years. When I take the snows off I turn the key on with no wheels on the car for a few seconds, then install the summer wheels and the light is off when I turn the key on. If I skip turning the key on when the wheels are off, the TPMS sensors need to be trained to put the light out.

Agreed. I don't have them on any of my vehicles. It's so easy to figure out if a tire is low or flat.

I also have compressors and gauges and know how to use them but with the light on it prevents me from being able to pass inspection. Otherwise I'd just put in regular valvestems and be done with it. I tried to pull the bulb but it's intergrated into the damn circuit board!

I have a pretty soft, uneven "gravel" driveway. Hard to tell pressure by looking. My trucks tires hold air for seemingly ever. My 2011 escape not so much. And its all wheel drive so different diameter tires will cook the tcase pretty quick. So I'm quite happy the escape let's me know when the tires are low as I'd probably forget to check often enough. The truck I seldom drive and its for hauling stuff, so I check it before use, but that might be once a month or less. The escape is my dd. I'll be swapping back to summer tires soon and don't think it will need any updates.
