I always wanted a 308GTS and there was a time they were on the market for 10 grand. At this point, if you aren't prepared to make it a very serious hobby, or you have extremely deep pockets, I'm afraid that game won't be fun to play anymore.

Has anyone noticed all the car shows turn their noses up at 300hp now like it's pathetic and useless? I remember the days when Corvettes had 180hp. Not saying that was a golden era, but geez, let's not be greedy.

Edit: oh, I forgot to make a point. I like thick cylinder walls and short strokes. Go ahead, the ball is on the tee

that is relative to weight. and if 15.5 second 1/4 mile is acceptable like an 84 vette....good for you.....but dont be messing around with a modern soccer mom in a Pacifica or cd6 platform explorer st.....she will thoroughly wax your ass.


so yeah....300 hp is useless out of a v8 in a windsor in a modern context....because IT IS NOT CHEAP..not a bolt in junkyard mod...a naturally aspirated 370 Z bumps 320 hp....and a 13.7 1/4 with 3 digit speed in a car heavier than a ranger....you put a stock explorer 302 engine in a ranger....a stock 5.3.....or a stock coyote....there is a second in each of those. and one of them is a bargain.

back in the mid 90s my best time was 14.2x with a full weight 4x4 ranger and AT THAT TIME was an ass kicker.....i was running away from most things on the street. but a 350 with a 4l60 could jump me out of the hole. even a 2.9 truck for 1st gear..my engines were stock for a gt 40 save for the cam most of the time and some compression.

its not greed.....300 is a great amount of power in past context. its stock lm7

300 hp is pathetic....its better than 180....200....or 250...





the worst thing is that ford knows how to make ridiculous flowing heads. just hates its customers.....not all of them....just the poor ones like me....and not the gear heads in there....the corporate dolts.

Is a 370z heavier than a Ranger? That halfway surprises me because my 280zx is way lighter than my Ranger... but only halfway because my wife's Sonata is much heavier than my Ranger, which always seems hilarious to me.

bobs thing that identifies as a ranger....(350 Z) is 3600...and half of it is usually missing.....hood/bumper cover ect....back bumpers hacked to hell....

the last 370 i worked on was 3500ish without driver. i was helping them take camber out of the rear for more traction on launch....figured it would have been heavier....most of the reg cab 2wd rangers with small blocks were 3200ish....



but the new thing that identifies as a ranger.... gonna be a windsor.....maybe a 408.
