Toyota rant

:headbang:

I had two autos but switched them over to 5 speed. Fun to drive, dependable & economical.

When a part broke, I just headed over the local junk yard.

I never see any old model Toyotas on the road  but plenty of Rangers-

I used to. It was common place around here to see alot of 1st gens, a few 2nd gens, and 3rd gens were everywhere. But after cash for clunkers most the 1st and 3rd gens disappered, but oddly, for some reason, it seems 2nd gens were unaffected.

Plenty of old Toyotas still on the road around here (and just about every other brand, just so we're clear).

Not many 1st gen Rangers left on the road here, those that are, are like mine - horribly rusted (or pretty nice.) Seems to be a ton of nice 2nd gen trucks, especially extended cab 4x4's. 3rd gens are not quite as common.

The ones I see for sale the most are 98 and 99 for some reason - tons of them around... all beat to shit too.

After we got the caliper it litterally was 30 minutes from out of the box to test driving the car...... now we need to put in new struts, hub assemblies, and a heater core and he has a decent daily driver for less than a grand.

I have some Toyota work coming up. Drove my father-in-law's Tacoma (RWD) the other day. I then asked him. "How long have you had that really bad belt squeal every time you start it up? He said about 2 weeks and he just thought it was the belt squealing buy the pwr steering fluid level was ok. I asked if he thought we should find out WHY the belt is squealing and he just gave me the "deer in the headlights stare".

Oh, boy. :shok: :icon_confused: :annoyed:

I have never owned a toyota in my life but I will have a great opportunity at the end of this year and I can not pass it up. My dad has a 08 tacoma texas edition and it will have around 140k on it when I get it from him. I am going to give him 4k to pay it off and 500.00 towards taxes on his new truck. Definitely a blessing. It is immaculate.
