TK4 4WD Driveshaft to TK5

Hey there, I finally got a TK5 4WD transmission for my truck. Before I start tearing everything apart, I wanted to know if I could still use the same driveshaft, including the one for the 4WD.

The length of a TK4 4WD transmission is 24 inches, a TK5 is 25.932 inches from what it says here on the forums. I do not know for the T-Case. It sounds the TK4 driveshaft would be to long. Has anyone done a TK4 to TK5 4WD swap? If so, were you guys able to use the same driveshaft?
 
I would not go by the forum measurements necessarily. I did a TK5 to a FM-145 swap, and looking at the specs in the transmission tech section I thought I was sunk. But it bolted right in, everything was the same. I used the same transfer case and the driveshafts bolted right in place. Even the shifter lined up in the floorboard.

P.S. I did have to use the flywheel, clutch and internal slave with the FM transmission. The old TK had the external slave.

I see, was yours a long bed or short bed? I'm not sure if that makes a difference on the length of driveshaft. I have a LB single cab with a leveling kit. But that's great news, I have never done anything to a vehicle before on this scale. Just nervous and double checking everything before I start changing stuff out.

So, how did it go? I may have to go from TK4 to a 5 speed.

I never went through with doing the swap. I sold the truck earlier this year and bought a different Ranger.
 
the tk4 shaft will be too long. Most heavy truck shops will shorten it, was $100 almost 20 years ago. Likely double that now.

front shaft will need to be lengthened. But if you’re doing a Dana 35 swap at the same time, you might get away with it.

My original tk5 front shaft worked with a D35 swap, then the front diff found a big rock in a mud track, stopped me dead.
Back home checking things over I had to drop the t case to replace the front cover that was busted by the too long front shaft.
