i am currenly looking to put bigger tires on my Ranger. cant deside between 255/85R16, and 285/75R16. my big concern with the 255's is that along with the 3 body lift i got, crancking the T bars, and adding the taller tires that i might be to tall and narrow, and more prone to rolling. thoughts? opinions? what do you guys think. btw its a 2003 FX4, if that helps.

285/75's all the way.

If you are using your truck for offroad get the biggest tires you can clear in your fender wells. Any thing smaller and you are wasting your money. If however this is your dd slightly smaller tires might help your mpg.

I don't think the 255's would make it anymore rollover prone vs a wider tire, and they would help your milage.

One thing about the 255/85-16's is they are kind of an odd sized tire, blow one out in the middle of nowhere and you might be waiting for the pony express to get another one out there. 285's are fairly common.

thats my fear. 33x10.50R15 BFG AT. the only company who makes this size...

id go 285.

85_Ranger4x4. thats the exact type of post i was looking for. thankyou for giving it reasoning instead of just a simple answer.:icon_thumby: any more input from you or any other memebers, like this will greatly help me in desiding wich set to get. i relay had not thought about how hard they might be to get my hands on in an oh shit situation. i will also be keeping my stock tires eather way, so having a replacment take a week or 2 to come in would not be a big deal. tryed to rep you but it would not let me.

you wanna talk about weird size? i have 255/60/15's on my dakota. i need new tires on it and so far i've only found 2 brands in that size. BFG and firestone. its a real PITA not having a "normal" size.
