I'm going to be selling my 1996 Ford Ranger (TRS-2) that I built for a 6-part Off-Road Adventures (4Wheel Parts Magazine) article.

If you've ever wheeled with me, you know the truck will go everywhere.

A quick run down:

4.0L / Auto
Skyjacker Class II 6-inch lift with extended radius arms and Skyjacker rear leafs
Front & rear Detroit Lockers
4.56 gears
Dana 35/Ford 31-Spline 8.8 with discs
JET performance module
Custom front bumper
Custom bed cage
Off-Road Lights
Dual battery solenoid / set up (only have one battery in the boxes though)
(5) 33x15.5x15 BFGoodrich Mud Terrains
winch
Escort GT bucket seats
Explorer console
Explorer overhead console (temp/compass)

The motor started smoking last fall, so I'm going to replace it, and then I'll be listing for sale.

I'm just giving people a heads up because I'd rather sell it to someone here 1st instead of putting it on craigslist.

Post a price and location, forum rules!

Sorry to see it go from your garage. Gonna build a replacement, fund Vanessa's truck, or fund the camper build?

I hope whoever buys it doesn't trash it.

LOL. Not for sale yet. I need to find another motor to put in it.

Actually, it's going to fund the IRS.

We still have Vanessa's Ranger. It's been a bad year for us. Her truck is on the back burner.

Kinda wish I had a need for it. Awesome truck, sucks to see it go from the TRS stables, but hopefully it'll stay in the extended TRS family.

Out of curiosity have you considered putting it up for sale without replacing the motor? Someone on here may want it as a foundation for a 302 swap, and not care if it currently has a smoking 4.0L. One example being SVT up there, he seems real interested in knowing a price and where it is, and all his RBVs have been converted.

it needs an ecoboost

if it comes to my stable.....it would get a reg 3.7 though because i am a cheap fawker and zoie would just take it away from me anyway so i could buy her gas....

My wife suggested selling it as is, but I'm afraid I'll get next to nothing for it. Most people just see it as a '96 Ranger, and don't take in to account how much money it would cost them just to buy all the parts under in the axles/suspension.

If anyone was interested in it as is and wanted to contact me, I would be open to offers. I even have a trailer to deliver it.

You know Jim, you can just sue them for persecuting you because of your beliefs now.

:icon_rofl:

I would have consider buying, but I inherited the family's old 96 Chevy Blazer 4x4. It is now just a Sunday vehicle or when the roads get slick in the winter.

My wife would say the same....'Don't put any more money in that THING!!!
Just sell it and cut your losses. You will put your time, and our money in something that might just break down while it is up for sale!!!! Then you will have to fork out more MONEY!!!' Women!! We can't live with them and we can't live without them!!!! lol

I would love to have this truck, if the price was right and was a little closer to me.
I know you said you have a trailer and could deliver...but google maps has it about 1,030 miles, or 15+ hour drive one way. LOL!

But the sad truth is vehicle hobby's are bad investments. Most Everyone here know that . Be it a used offroad toy, a drag car, or a circletrack car. You will never get back what was put in it money/time wise. Unless you are very very lucky.
If I would have saved all my money I have dumped into project cars/trucks over the years...I could probably buy any new vehicle I want, on any carlot with CASH! LOL

I do wish you the best of luck and hope you get your asking price, or very close to it!

I went and got another motor for it today. I should have the truck up and running again by Wednesday, and have it listed by Friday.

I'm probably going to list it for $5,500. There's over $3,000 just in the suspension gears and Detroit lockers.

I really want to keep it in the TRS family. If I sell it on Craigslist, I'm going to remove the TRS decals first.

This isn't a trail beater. This is a truck that can be driven every day and wheeled on the weekends.

I would make the trip in a heartbeat. When you are ready for the sale, let me know price and your best days for dealing.
