The TRS Ranger is going to be FOR SALE

Actually, it's going to fund the IRS.

Just tell the KGB - I mean IRS - that the computer with all your tax records crashed, eliminating all your emails that would show your income/expenditures, and that you're not answering any of their questions about it to avoid incriminating yourself. Hey, it worked for them, didn't it?

If only it was that easy...

Jim, ugh...don't sell it to some schmuck on Craigslist!

I want it to stay in the TRS family as well...

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll get $5.5k on generic auction/listing sites. But, GLWS, man.

Technically, under the fifth amendment it should be that easy.. If there was no other evidence of the income/expenditures. Unfortunately there is ALWAYS some other evidence.

I wonder if we could raise that much money to save TRS-2? Also what effect would that have on Jim's taxes?

A quick check says we have 29,163 members. Assuming 1% of those people can and would donate it'd only take an $18 donation each to raise the money. I'm good for $18 for TRS-2. How about ya'll?

You know, that isn't a bad idea. I might be able to chip in that much. I know I've gotten at least $18 worth of benefit from TRS, which Jim is largely to thank for.

Your info is a little dated. Currently we have over 89,000 members. And I'm up for it as well.

Jim, mind if I start a save the TRS-2 fund thread?

Someone has to end up with the truck at the end of it. What about a raffle?

I think it has a perfectly good owner. A raffle wouldn't guarantee the amount of funds needed would be raised, and may lose out more if enough raffles aren't sold...

So make the raffle to be pending the goal price. Or do fund raiser than issue raffles to donors once the goal has been raised. Duh :D. This truck is a piece of TRS history. I think it would be a cool idea. However I noticed TRS isn't nearly as active as it used to be so not sure if we can get enough people to make this happen.

:agree:I'm with RangerSVT on this one. It should stay with Jim.

I pulled that count right from here.

Wonder what's up with that? :icon_confused:

Anyway at 89,000 with only 1% donating it's just $6.18 to save TRS-2. I'm fairly sure anyone who used the site enough to sign up can honestly say they got more than that out it. Even the spambots.:icon_rofl:

Yeah Jim, Can we do this? PLZ!

I'm just guessing here, but Jim is probably not the kind of guy to say, "Heck yeah, you can all pay the IRS for me!" I don't know the man, but I'd bet he's more of a DIY kind of fellow. Anyone who knows can confirm or deny my suspicion.

So, what I propose is that we, the members (should we decide to commit to this and really do it), appoint a chairman to whom donations could be sent and who could be trusted to get them to Jim with the condition that collected funds be used to settle accounts with the IRS and keep the TRS Ranger in his driveway.

Some pertinent info would be a deadline for collection and a total amount needed to accomplish our goal. Do we have any volunteers/nominees to be in charge of taking in collections? I really think we could get this handled in pretty short order, and with rare exception the input across the board has been of a helpful nature, which tells me TRS members are prone to help each other when need arises.

I see no reason why we couldn't help a brother out. LET'S DO IT!!!

I'll throw my name in the hat since I offered to make a save the TRS 2 fund/thread...

I'm down to donate a few bucks. If everybody throws in $20 it won't take long to get enough to take care of the problem.

No. You guys can't do that.

Vanessa and I still have her Ranger. At some point we'll finish that, so we won't be Rangerless.

I'm actually going to be selling off my Bronco II as well to put a roof on the house. It's been in need of one for a while now.

Once I have my taxes taken care of, and a new roof, then I'll turn my focus back towards building up Vanessa's Ranger to be our replacement for TRS-2.

That's life man. We've had some things happen that have affected us financially, and you just have to look at things responsibly, take care of your obligations, and rebuild.

The motor's in, but the salvage yard cut the fuel line on the truck side of the disconnect, and I'm struggling to get them to release so I can plug the lines in to my Ranger. Once I do that, I'll be able to start it up.

So, the motor apparently came out of a 1996 Explorer. But every plug was the same except for the O2 sensor.
