The Deuce

I'll have to take a look, I have a few old jeep t90 trannys with the gear still attached to them.

Pull the detents, meaning pull the spring and steelies out of each shift rail after I pull each rail out?

Kinda like these hey...I could only find the 2 of them, I'm sure I have a couple more somewhere, I have this 1 d20 and 3 d18's that all use the same gear. I think like a said before they are still attached to the trannys.

So I may have a spline cutting source locally. Last night I face booked the question asking if any of my local friends know where I can get a couple shafts splined and I got several replies! 1 buddy works at Cariboo Chrome in town here and says they can do splines depending on what type. So I msg'd him pics of the basic splines i need cut and some details and now I wait for him to get back to me.....

I may end up needing to find an RBV 25 spline output for reference when I bring the parts down to get splined.

Another thing I'll need to know is whether the 1354 output shaft has enough meat to actually be splined to the 6 spline d20 input and how long it will need to be shortened to to make the doubler as short as possible. The tranny output is an easy measurement. Since I don't have either of them apart yet, I have no actual measurements to give... Another possibility is I asked him if they can do internal splining too, I might just get the 1354 output bored out and splined for the 1354/1354 doubler...

Then I need to get the 2wd c4 output shaft out of the trans. I haven't looked into it yet but do I have to disassemble the trans to get at the output shaft? Or does it come out the rear of the case somehow?

Any luck with caribou chrome on responding? Hopefully cost wise it will be cheaper then buying the hard parts from a wrecker or advance adapters

Btw
I've seen this bronco in action. It kicks butt seriously blows 99 percent of other trucks outa the water. The other 1 percent fall into the same heavy modified category and don't seem to exist here

Congrats on the wicked brute and write up dude lookin forward to helping with the manballs engine install and doing the sas on my sploder once we get the ranger going sideways at 60

As far as the length of the shaft, you will need to build the doubler first, then take measurments. Since there are infinite measurements which depends on the length of the adapter you fab, and the reduction box, its better to build the doubler, then measure for the shaft. This is the way I am doing it. That shaft and gear is what I'm missing for mine, let me know how much you want for them :icon_thumby:
SVT

Haha, thanks CJ! Manballs engine swap will be sweet! SAS on your sploder will be wicked, cant wait to help get that ranger ballin!!

SVT, the gear is yours if you want it, but not sure what shaft your after. All shafts pictured are from jeep trans. Pick one and its yours, lol. Msg me your info and I'll see what I can do to ship them out to you asap.

So Cariboo Chrome buddy says they can cut the splines but he thinks they can't do rounded splines, only square cut. Not sure if this will be a problem. I'm thinking it will create some slop in the splines maybe. Not sure, he said he'll ask his Foreman on Monday if he has any ideas to make this work. No quote on price yet either.

Well, looks like I might have a 4r44 and 2 1354e's to add to the collection, lol. Maybe I should start thinking about a trippler too! 6.96:1 or 7.44:1 hehe.

A V8 with all those reduction boxes. :D

just get a V8 :D

LOL, I got the v8 (needs a little work but I got it), now I'm trying to get my ducks in a row so my v8 c4 can actually bolt to a transfer case or 2 under there. :D

So turns out Cariboo Chrome isn't going to be my local spline cutting source, he said shop rate is $70/hr and figures it will take upwards of 8-9 hours to do what I'm asking! wtf?

So back to square 1 again. :(

There's a couple places left but I have to have the pieces in hand and go there to explain what I'm after to get a quote...sigh.

So first up I take the 2wd c4 apart as the output shaft is the last piece to come out, then I get ahold of 1 of the 1354's CJ has and take it apart so I can get the input shaft and 6 pinion planetary and associated parts for my 1350m reduction box, then I can start building the c4 to 1354 adapter and doubler plate to figure out how long my shafts and splines need to be so I can get them built asap.

I might just send them both out your way SVT, or Andres to get them splined.

I really need to get heat in my shop, it's cold and winter here.... :P
