I couldnt dig up what I'm looking for, just complete axle swaps.

My axle code is 84, so obviously it's a 7.5 3.45. I'm having the truck (1994 Mazda B300) re geared to 4.10 to bring back my original mileage, power and speedo after putting 31" tires on her. Since it's an open diff, instead of doing just gears, can I swap the, carrier? I believe it's called, to an LSD carrier? I dont want to change the whole axle housing, but if I have to, then I will.

I believe it's a Trac-Loc as Ford calls it.

You can swap the carrier... or look into adding a Lunchbox Locker.

99 times out of 100, you can swap an open carrier for a LSD one without any other changes. You need a 7.5" carrier, doesn't matter - Ranger, Mustang, etc.

But post swap, you should check the gear pattern - that 1 out of 100 will have a pattern so far off that a couple weeks later, you will have a pile of teeth in bottom of differential.

While out, I would rebuild the clutches in the LSD - no point getting it all back together only to find out the plates were shot and you need to pull it apart and start over.

Oh yeah, I'm not gonna chance it. I would prefer to get a gear style one? But I think I'm stuck with clutches.

Clutch type is just fine.
