2.3L ('83-'97) Stumbles and dies on cold start and after sitting.

Same conditions but yes it is a different gauge. I was skeptical of the other one from the start (I was renting from autozone) so after that test I went and got my own and it’s reading better now.
Still dropping off to 0 basically instantly?

The immediate drop off was probably the check valve at the outlet of the old pump, why I don't worry about that too much... oddly enough probably what the startup problem with my '97 is, just don't want to pull the bed yet while the pump is working fine otherwise...

Just to simplify things with all that you've done, what are the symptoms that are left? I know you've gotten rid of a couple, it gets confusing with the parts changed and such...

To put it simply, none of the parts changed so far have made the starting any better. Really no noticeable change from the original symptom other than my gas mileage has gotten better since replacing the fuel pump but still very rough on cold starts, easy fire up but struggles and shakes to catch it self on the idle down from fire up.

Sorry for the delay all, got notified the FPR was delayed in shipping and won’t be here this weekend so standby for the update on the running issues after that is replaced.

I also wanted to add a detail from when I replaced my fuel pump I didn’t note when I first posted. The mpg has been a lot better since replacing but still not to par with what it was before the issue. My fuel filler neck is cracked around the hose connector to the fuel tank. I have noticed it leaks a bit of fuel if I overfill the tank for a year+ now and finally saw the damage when I pulled the bed off but I don’t think this would be causing my issue so I just wanted to mention it in case it is an issue or if anyone knows about that. Appreciate the help and patience!

My filler neck has the same issue, oddly enough I wrapped it with a generous amount of "pipe wrap tape" (basically wide electrical tape) and well that was like 4 years ago and it hasn't leaked gas when filling up since... always ran fine.

Dumb thought is the purge solenoid, don't remember if that's been mentioned before, they can cause flooding which is making me question the starting issues I have sometimes... It's free to test, you shouldn't be able to blow through it with your mouth
