so some hippies yelled at me today...

Hippies are funny to watch, But quote them facts about their "cars" like how the environmental impact of replacing their batteries after 70,xxx miles is just as bad as driving a regular vehicle that emits its exhaust for those same 70,xxx miles...

Yeah, but that isn't factual, their car is WORSE.

as for People calling me names?

I follow the disctum that while sticks and stones may break my bones names will never hurt me..

But calling ME names might get some of YOUR bones broken.

I call it my personal program towards making people more civil.

Be polite.
Be polite or I'll hurt you.

i would of gotten in my truck and reved the hell out of it since i have straight pipes and parked them in so that all they got were exhaust lol

Today I was heading into work and I noticed this prius was following me for a while. I got to the parking lot and parked in my usual spot and the prius parked right next to me...a couple came out and started yelling at me about how I'm destroying the environment with my truck..and I mean yelling, people were staring at us and I didn't know what to say or do. But they went rambling on about how I need to sell my truck and get at least a newer one or better yet get a car like the prius...has anyone else had this problem?? lol

are you in seattle? cause if you are, doesnt surprise me.

how do you hide money from a hippie?

Put it under the soap.

+1 for the Gwar reference.

back on topic.... the Prius is a gimmick plain and simple.
Now it has a solar panel roof...neat.

The batteries last much longer than 70k miles. When hybrids first came out, everyone scoffed at their unknown long-term reliability, saying they wouldn't make it past 100k miles. Well, they've been around for over 10 years now and there are many, many people with well over 100k miles on their original battery packs. There are many...err...a few.... valid reasons to hate hybrids, but long-term reliability is not one of them.

And the environmental impact of disposing of the batteries is no worse than when you have to replace the lead-acid battery in your truck. They all get recycled the same. In fact, if anything, the lead-acid batteries are way worse because you have to replace them much more often (when was the last time YOUR battery lasted 100k+ miles?)

Don't hybrids still have a regular 12V lead acid battery to power everything but the electic drive motors?

The inner fenders of my F-150 are made out of recycled car batteries anyway, without them it would have made the truck more expensive to use virgin plastic... which is also harder on the enviroment.

I got 60k out of my Motorcraft battery, it still worked ok but I had a code for low battery voltage, so for $80 I got a Interstate and stuck my stock one in dad's old Dodge where it lives on yet today.

Dunno what I would do if someone would confront me about my trucks, doubt it will happen because just about everyone around here has a truck anyway.
