so some hippies yelled at me today...

Today I was heading into work and I noticed this prius was following me for a while. I got to the parking lot and parked in my usual spot and the prius parked right next to me...a couple came out and started yelling at me about how I'm destroying the environment with my truck..and I mean yelling, people were staring at us and I didn't know what to say or do. But they went rambling on about how I need to sell my truck and get at least a newer one or better yet get a car like the prius...has anyone else had this problem?? lol

i love hippys for there almost satrical behaviour.. id sit there and let them lecture me... and just poke fun at there views... itd be a great story and a good time killer...
maybe take out a note pad and jot some of there thoughts down and then tear it out and crinkle the page up and toss it infront of there feet, all while stubbing my smokes out and tosing thm on there piece of **** toyota =]

lmao Better yet, dump the while ash trey out and dump it on the ground.( clean it up after they leave obviously )

Hippies are funny to watch, But quote them facts about their "cars" like how the environmental impact of replacing their batteries after 70,xxx miles is just as bad as driving a regular vehicle that emits its exhaust for those same 70,xxx miles...

lol, ive never had any hippys do that to me... wait nvm, i had a guy who though my truck was too loud stop in themiddle of the road and tell me i needed to turn my music down because i was polluting the area with noise... like literally on a busy road... it was funny ill admit.

The batteries last much longer than 70k miles. When hybrids first came out, everyone scoffed at their unknown long-term reliability, saying they wouldn't make it past 100k miles. Well, they've been around for over 10 years now and there are many, many people with well over 100k miles on their original battery packs. There are many...err...a few.... valid reasons to hate hybrids, but long-term reliability is not one of them.

And the environmental impact of disposing of the batteries is no worse than when you have to replace the lead-acid battery in your truck. They all get recycled the same. In fact, if anything, the lead-acid batteries are way worse because you have to replace them much more often (when was the last time YOUR battery lasted 100k+ miles?)

this thread makes me wonder what a good sized group of us would be like when around eachother ahaha

You should've let them know that the location where the Prius's batteries are made has been named a 'dead zone' by Nasa. Sudbury, Ontario. Nickel Plant, here is a taste of how the Prius is helping the environment in Ontario.

Ohhhh look at the pretty colors!

I would do like I usually do when some jackass is yelling at me, offer them a beer. They don't know what to do, and usually get offended. Especially if you pull out a can of PBR or Old Milwaukee.

no response needed. just smile knowing that they are the suckers making payments on a prius. and honestly who yells at someone for driving an older car.

or option 2. yell back at them but about something totally unrelated. like: "give me back my jacket! I said you could borrow it not have it." they'll think your crazy and leave you alone. (have to give credit to Louis CK for that idea.)

That was freaking awesome!:icon_cheers: I gota use that one. Thanks

OH MY GOD! That is scary. WTF. I wish I could pull those pics out from my wallet, and show the next hippie that gets on my case for riding my dirtbike. Tell them just how foolish they really are.

That plant belongs to a company called Vale Inco. Toyota only buys about 1000 tons of nickel from them per year. (The plant produces about 270k tons per year) So Toyota is hardly responsible for the environment there. The plant has also been around for over 100 years, and much of the damage occured over 30 years ago (long before hybrids existed). The company has also been working to restore the environment, and it supposedly looks 100x better then it did 20 years ago. (When were those pics taken?)

Well here's my opinion on this. Newer cars have a lot more plastic in them, and it takes a lot of energy to produce them. Why not have a program started into putting better, improved mileage/ power, maybe even hybrid or alternate fuels into older vehicles and restoring some 10 yr old ones.....

tell them if they buy you new better pickup you would gladly drive your older one less. But until then they can shut their f-in mouth. But my friend loves prius' but and cares about the environment but she ain't a hippy. She drives a s10 with a five speed

one of my old college professors was a full time landscaper who used to drive a lifted f250 his work gave him fora work truck.. as a joke they took it away and gave him drive a baby blue prius as a perminate replacement
he felt violated.
