Well since the M50D is notorious for having slave cylinder's go bad Is there a certain brand you have put in that outlasts the stock unit?
Also Im pricing out clutch kits and flywheels is there any that are on top of the list as far as price and performance?
My truck is a 92 Ranger with 2.3 4cyl M50D Transmission
basically the main question is Should I just get the well priced RAM Clutch Kit thats only 133bucks along with the Napa Slave Cylinder And Resurface the Flywheel? Im planning on towing a small aluminum boat this summer and I am trying to squeeze horsepower and torque out of this motor to make it a little easier gettin up them hills.
Im not planning on doing these mods for a little while because I got one car in the shop right now with a blown motor and cant afford to be doing both.
I would rather get more info on a good brand of Slave Cylinder than clutch so hit me up

nothing huh... guess I will just go with non ranger product reviews and the napa slave cylinder.

i would suggest going to ford and ordering an OEM slave...the stock one lasted how long? why not replace it with the same.

oh snap :icon_thumby::icon_thumby: where did you get the quote for the motorcraft(OEM) part. Rock auto?

What kind of fish is that you are holding?

some ford parts website let me try and find it again. fordpartscenter.com something like that. The fish is a channel catfish

i havent had to replace one (thank god) but if i do ill be going with the autozoo one as usual. my slave is sticking a little tho, it kicks when i go to reengage it like there is spot thats worn on it, will hav to change eventually (just dont feel like pulling a tranny now...) i went with a duralast clutch and have about 12k miles pulling an atv in the bed no complaints. lifetime warranty is what turned me on to it, just like the shocks on my 93, buy them once never pay for them again. i didnt even bother to have my flywheel resurfaced now that you mention that as well, didnt have any grooves or wear marks so she acts just fine. i suggest a bearing puller for your pilot bearing tho, the 3 hours me and a friend of mine spent with a hammer and chisel on the stock one that was froze in there sucked to say the least. just my .02 since your asking.

If you go to ford to get a slave, they'll tell you that it's oem motorcraft, but it's not. It's the exact same one as you'd get at any parts store. I know, I've bought both hoping to get more than a couple years out of it. Same part number, manufacturer, but 1.5 times the price at the dealer.

I believe the OEM Clutch kits are made by Luk.

makes sense i mean harley davidson vrod ignition parts come in a ducati box...but that engine was made in the porsche factory in germany to start with. so much for the all american motorcycle. hell back in 83 when harley hit hard times honda bought 43 percent of their stock to help them out, they bought it back in the early 90s but in that timeframe the twincam 88b has a honda counterbalancer in it and they all use showa (honda) suspension from 84 up. that and the other all american motorcycle company victory is owned by polaris that uses fuji engines from japan and the frames are built in canada. go figure.
