Shifter out of place?

Help! I recently pulled my shifter to install new pins and gaskets as there was a lot of play. Upon installation it feels like it will only go into second gear and the truck is stuck in reverse. Any ideas on how I can fix this? 2000’s 2.3l M5OD transmission

Most likely you pulled it while in gear. Look down the hole and make sure everying looks like a mirror image from side to side and front to back. Reinstall shifter.

Yeah I think that’s exactly what I did- if everything isn’t lined up how do I readjust?
