Semi Truck Ranger

Looking back at it now, that isn't a tractor trailer fifth wheel, although I think it is about the same height.
Raise that another foot and a half and it would be looking right at ya, but even a tractor trailer fifth wheel, you've got to stoop over to look at it when it's under a trailer(even when the trailer's empty)

The only trailer that sees is the one it gets loaded on to bring it to the car show.

This is no longer a Ranger frame Sno, it's now a truck frame, whether it is original or not. One simple search led right into the American Welding Society Forum, simple quick answer to welding on a truck frame was ...
Everything back of the cab on that truck is 2x4" rectangular tube from local metal store - no relation to OEM steel. Some of the welding is a little suspect (If nothing else not pretty, especially for a show truck..)

What I find interesting: the rear axle looks to be floating - no springs, no bags, not even coils on shocks, not driven, not braked.

Good use of 2.9.

That's true Don, actually the big, flat tires were what kept catching my eye when looking at that view. Could you imagine 40 tons trying to bounce on those?

I'm beginning to stop trying to see it as a work of art, and starting to view it more as actual evidence of a true brain fart ;)

I thought so too. If you look closely, there's an air line right where the speed sensor goes. I think there are bags on the the axle... we just can't see them at the angle the pics were taken.

That would be cool with a custom gooseneck or something else like that. But that isn't pulling a semi trailer. Unless it can come up another foot and a half off the ground the trailer would be nose down into the truck literally. and most semi tractors weigh 17000lbs or more very rarely they weigh less.

It's for a single horse trailer with a goose neck. :dntknw: lol I wouldn't trust it with a riding lawn tractor on it though.

If it weren't for those front fenders it wouldn't really look that awful.

They don't look so bad if you try this...
Take your chowda spoon and dig your eyeballs out. Throw them on the ground and stomp on them. Not look at the truck...
The fenders don't look as bad anymore, do they?

Find the nearest cliff and push it over the edge.
Or, haul it to the nearest cesspool and dump it in.
Either way, put the poor thing out of it's misery!!!

I'm not sure that's an air line... I looked at the height of the air bags on the forward rear axle and there aren't any brackets in equivalent location on the aft rear axle. And we should be able to see them in at least one of the pics.

Either way, it's a useless "show" axle. There's no driveshaft or brake lines. It has drums, but I'd wager that there isn't anything in them.

Honestly I'm sorry I even looked at this thing
