TRS Moderator Survives Head On With Semi Truck

Will, you are one tough guy. Even if you didn't get a bumper in your teeth, that impact had to put a lot of G-force on your body. Glad to see you survived it and hope you don't have any lasting problems from it. You have a great attitude about it and that is what makes you a survivor.

Thanks for the well-wishing.

If anyone in Missouri finds my Yellow-top Optima can you mail it back?

I was wondering why it was RAINING RANGER over here for a bit. SMH...I think the fact you took that hit directly HEAD ON is what saved ya...just looking at how the cab buckled and everything else.

Glad youre alright...but dude...youre gonna be sore FOREVER. Ask me how I know....smh....

Best wishes....

Jeez, what a wreck! Glad to hear you're ok, Will. The fact that you managed to baffle all the paramedics by just crawling out the door on your own after that is the best.

It does look like you were about frame-to-frame with the semi. That probably helped a ton with the crush situation. Looks like your lil truck took a pretty good chunk out of that semi's grille, too!

Holly shit, the semi tipped over too?
Sorry about your truck but we're glad you walked out of it. Get well soon..

Praise God! He pulled you through that wreck Will! :yahoo:

Just got an old 88 Ranger 4x4 myself. Now I can face the semi's too! :) :shok:

I think you might need a new radiator though. :icon_surprised:

Holy shit. Leave it to a window licker to survive head on with a truck and crack jokes.

I vaguely remember Will from back when I had an RBV...uh...damn I'm old. 15 years ago? I actually used to be a Mod here...

Word still gets around outside the RBV circle. Glad you're okay Will.

i dont think a pink bug would be too happy in this situation:icon_confused:

it takes an incident like this to get you to say hi....?:thefinger::thefinger:

i dont think an 88 ranger would allow you to live in this type of case. i have an 88 ranger. its setup to hopefully let go of the cab in such a situation...well was till i built a flatbed. the way the bolts/bodylift blocks and washers are sized to the holes and style bushing used.

no air bags or door bar structure would lead me to guess a 99 out off 100 death rate comparatively. all things being equal from wills style truck to an 88..

just damn giddy he lived through this.

I've seen semi wrecks where the cab came off and was sitting on the highway.

As a truck driver i can say the ONLY thing that keeps us safe is sheer mass. The cabs (atleast on peterbilts) are paper thin aluminum. They are no where near as safe as people think.

the ridiculous amount of my life wasted staring out of the window of my truck going too and fro work taught me that ejecting the cab can be of possible benefit from the unfortunate amount of scenes i actually witnessed or encountered. specifically because of no srs.

truck drivers are screwed in any type of wreck that rolls over like happened here if there was a rock/tree/pole involved in its slide path because the mass carries through and kills them. both drivers are lucky to be breathing after this deal.

We are screwed anytime we hit something that isnt smaller then us. You hit a tree, bridge, or god forbid, take another truck head on, youre done. Period.

That poor old louisville....them were damn good trucks.

That being said, those cabs on those were all steel, and built pretty decent, i shudder to think if that had been a pete.

Haven't been on the board in some time so I'm a bit late. Glad to see you're okay, Will, and it's hard to believe there's anything left of that poor Ranger. Hope you heal quickly and speedily.
