so, i just bought a 2wd ranger w/ a cracked head, it has a 4.0 and a 5spd. I have a fresh 350 in my garage, and am gonna drop it in the ranger. Basicly i would like ideas for a good street truck/daily driver, such as mods, tranny, exhaust and so fourth.

My plans include-
-th350 or th400 tranny
-demon carb, not sure what size yet
-edlbrock intake
-msd ignition
-holley fuel pump

I have a few q's-
-can i use the stock ps pump?
-can i use the stock radiator?
-is the rear axle strong enough?
-if i rip out all the wires for the fuel injection, will the lights and gauges work?
-will the stock throttle cable work?
-does any body make brackets and cross members?
-complete exhaust ideas?

And a little more info, my motor has a rv cam, vortec heads, and 4 bolt main. Time to get to work, will post pics as soon as i start, and keep you updated:icon_welder:

stock pump is a pos...you dont want it. just adapt the lines

radiator can work depending on use and where it is used. i strongly suggest a summit type relocated in the header.

should have an 8.8....its good to go.

only remove the eec pcm related harness/engine harness

use a ranger or even adapt a gm carb cable

advanced adapters and quite a few truck part guys have k members you can adapt if your going to a m2 front suspension that will make things cake...the jeep 350 swap k member kit at a/a is a good one for that. if your keeping tib then you just need to make your own mounts, easy to do.

cool thanks. So my ps pump on my motor will work? (out of a 76 chevy c10)

yup. the ford box should have a 5/16 flare...but the gm line is usually 3/8 flare, i just cut and flare the gm steel section and use a flare union that is 3/8x5/16 to get them to play nice. i do this becasue in a bind you now you can make it yourself again.

welcome to the sbc in a ranger club. me and doorgunner, and cvlfrk are glad to have ya with us. its gonna take some work but be worth it in the end. exhaust, www.jegs.com, flowmater u-fit exhaust kit is your best bet. bout 250.00 for 2.5 exhaust. hope this helps
