Ahoy Folks,

I recently picked up an 87 2.9L 4x4 Ranger to serve as my snow-truck. It's a rusty, leaky, beautiful old beast that I'll give some tlc once Colorado decides to thaw out. It's been a hot minute (~ 15 years) since I did any real wrench turning, so I'm sure I'll make plenty of mistakes. I'll do the picture taking and all that on a different post a bit later. To start, here's a list of the issues I know it has:

1) At least 3 oil leaks, I'm pretty sure one is the rear main seal. I tried that Blue Devil stuff, no dice though.
2) It sometimes sputters and shakes when I change gears, hit a bump, or go uphill (I'm thinking fuel delivery issue or EGR)
3) Really loose shifter, I'm probably just going to replace it at some point.
4) Suspension is pretty much a joke at this point.

I'm sure I'll find a whole lot more issues as I go and will probably come to be mystified by my previous enthusiasm. Hopefully, I'll get it all patched up and have a fun 4 wheeling toy (eventually.) Lastly, this weird emblem is right under the Ranger one, I have no clue what it is, or where it's from. Anybody know?

Welcome.
The tag? No idea. It could be something a dealer put on for ?
