dear Rusty......

At the end of the day they sold less the 30k trucks last year and lost 36000 per truck the last 4 months .

LOST.....36 thousand per unit. You think they are building 1600 per week?

That loss is due to spending tons of money on building new battery plants, upgrading assembly lines, etc. That money is already spent whether they sell any trucks or not. The only way they get some of it back is by selling EVs. The fewer EVs they sell, the more they lose per vehicle.

If i missed it somewhere i apologize but im curious how would hydrogen compare to diesel (or gas) in terms of power output and MPG?

The hydrogen 6.7 is capable of 295hp, 885 ft-lbs and has a range around 310 miles in a medium sized box truck with the possibility of adding another small tank to extend range more. That's in Euro Stage V spec.
That's basically right in the middle of the range of diesel specs for the same Euro Stage V compliance:

I can't speak to what they are actually building. But 1600 per week sounds like a low number. It is entirely possible.

Just one of our paint lines can paint 30 bodies per hour. We have 3 lines at that capacity and a 4th at around half. So, rough average, around 100 bodies per hour being painted. The paint shop is, by a slim margin, the bottleneck of the plant.

So, 100 per hour for 22hrs per day and 6.5 days per week. Have to leave time for cleaning and maintenance. We're at 14,300 cars per week. That's feeding 2 assembly halls. If you just assume 1 assembly hall that's more than 7000 vehicles per week. 1600 is nothing. Sure, an F150 is bigger than a BMW X model. But there isn't really anything more complicated about assembling it, even a 4x4. Most of ours are all wheel drive.

sure they can build 4000 per week. easily with 24 hr operations. in theory.

making a reliable truck that wont burn down has proven to not be so easy.

in 2022 and 2023 they sold less then 55000 trucks. 100 weeks.....50000 trucks.....

they fawk up the regular 150s so bad i wonder how they sell anything at this point....but they do..

Aye. this is true to some extent.... but not the whole story.. . it is why the ranger was rolled out with one platform and powertrain. at least that was smart.

the reliabilty index is the real problem so far as i am seeing with the ev truck. full battery ev for fleet use is not a solution at this time.... it is as bad as e85.

that is a reality they are staring at as well.

after the last big storm and hundreds of customers beating down corporate for a few weeks... the deceleration escalated higher then planned.

its called reality. if there was a deep freeze or is one this winter like happened in russia...you wont see any trucks being built.

i like the electric vehicles. they are ridiculously powerful and fun and have all sorts of capacity in traction and daily use at job sights ect.... but the forcing is a bad idea. just gonna get granada versions of whats needed.

last spring when they started pulling back and not optioning the hybrids correctly to what people were asking for...i knew that the government was fawking shit up again...

this isnt hard.

(as opposed to e/e )

so heres Mr. Copeland filling up the 500 hp truck...

this is a real good video that covers alot of ground. and if you ever get to visit with these people....you will find out there is so much more.

hydrogen car hell when people actually use them......

this is the other kind of hydrogen car......that rusty dont like.....
