hey. I got my 92 ford ranger and I wanted to start focusing on bodywork.
My roof is destroyed and I’m not sure how to repair it or go on about it.
Does anyone know what to do here.

Ugh! Somebody did an awful job! I'm not sure if I would cutoff the whole top of the roof and weld in another or replace the cab. That would depend on your welding skills.

Cab swap time IMO

If it is that bad on top lord knows what the corners, floors and cowl look like.

First step take the head liner out and see what it looks like from the inside. Then strip all the paint off with a wire wheel on a grinder.

Then just start cutting out sections and welding in new sections.

Even if you don’t swap the cab, it would be easier if you had a spare cab from a reck. That way you don’t have to make patches from scratch you can cut them out.

Wow. That is terrible.

If you're set on fixing it, a cab swap is your easy option. Second would be cutting the roof off a donor truck... IMO what you have there is beyond easy or quick fixes that look good. I am guessing there is a LOT of rust under the paint and it looks like someone smeared bondo all over everything...drip rails etc... and now the rust is under that too.

Just speaking from experience here, I painted one of my trucks a couple years ago and had very small holes near the windshield that I had to fix. It is not an easy spot to work on, there are multiple layers of metal all sandwiched together there and they are really thin. I had literally several days into fixing just that one spot and making it look right... the rust wasn't even into the drip rails or the back of the cab like it is on yours. I am wondering if your cab was damaged somehow and the filler was the easy "fix" for it - in which case there may be a lot more problems hiding under it.

For context this is what I was dealing with:
