rod nut size, 95 3.8 L 17/32" ???

I'm dismantling a 3.8, the rod nuts are an odd size. they mic at about .529 which is real close to 17/32" or 13.5mm which are both .531".

are my tools playing tricks on me or is this an excuse to buy more tools?
